So today I had a hard drive that is full, I wanted to move the big stuff so I free up space quickly, and also wanted to know what filled up my hard drive.
Hope it helps you when you run out of space
To find large files in Windows Explorer, you can use built-in search filters (Advanced Query Syntax) in the search bar (upper-right corner).
Here are the primary commands to use:
size:gigantic: Finds files larger than 4 GB.
size:huge: Finds files between 1 GB and 4 GB.
size:large: Finds files between 128 MB and 1 GB.
size:>1GB: A customizable command to find any files larger than a specific size (e.g., size:>500MB or size:>10GB).
How to use them:
Open File Explorer (Windows Key + E).
Navigate to the drive or folder you want to search (e.g., This PC or C:).
Click the search bar in the top right corner.
Type one of the commands above, such as size:gigantic, and press Enter.
To see the files clearly, go to the View tab and select Details, then click the Size column to sort from largest to smallest.
Other Useful Search Tips:
kind:video size:huge: Finds all video files between 1GB and 4GB.
*.iso size:>1GB: Finds all ISO disk images larger than 1GB.
size:1GB..4GB: Finds files within a specific size range.
Note: For the fastest results, start your search from a specific folder (like your user profile) rather than searching the entire C: drive, which can take a long time..
