Low overall CPU use can still hide a CPU limit in a game.

Some game work depends on one core. That core can hold up the next frame while other cores have little to do, leaving the total CPU percentage looking low.

Check what happens in the same game scene. If lowering render resolution barely helps, look at CPU load, frame caps, and power settings before buying a faster graphics card. That test gives you a clue, not a final diagnosis.

The PC first prepares its hardware and runs POST, short for Power-On Self-Test. These early checks cover the CPU, memory, storage, and graphics needed for startup.

If a check finds a problem, startup may stop with an error, beep pattern, or diagnostic light. Note that message or pattern before making changes. Loading Windows is a later step.

Before adding another case fan, clear the path the air already uses.

Dust can block airflow. Shut down and unplug the PC before cleaning. Hold each fan's blades still while using compressed air so the fan cannot overspin.

Keep cables away from blades, and give the case vents room to breathe. Start with these checks before changing the fan layout.

A touchscreen does two jobs: it shows results and accepts commands.

A standard monitor is an output device. It displays the picture sent by the computer. A touchscreen also sends your finger taps back as input.

A mouse and a screen handle those jobs separately. A touchscreen combines them. A screen showing a picture does not, by itself, tell you whether it supports touch.

Positive vs negative case pressure: which is better?

We compared three intake fans and one exhaust with one intake and three exhausts in the same mid-tower case. In our simulation, the case pressure went from +2.9 Pa to -2.6 Pa. The air around the graphics card barely changed, but with one intake fan, 54 CFM of air got in through gaps and open vents instead of through the fans.

A USB-C-shaped port does not tell you everything it can do.

USB-C describes the reversible connector. Depending on the device, it may support data, charging, a display, or a dock. Those features are not guaranteed by the shape alone.

Before buying a monitor or dock, check the exact computer's port specifications and the accessory's requirements. A photo of the rear ports cannot confirm all their features.

A laptop can use the same kinds of parts as a desktop without offering the same upgrade options.

Desktops often have separate, modular components. A laptop packs its parts into a compact body, and its CPU and GPU are often fixed to the board.

RAM or storage may be replaceable, but that depends on the exact model. Check the maker's service information before buying an upgrade. Do not assume every laptop opens or upgrades the same way.

How much airflow does a dust filter cost?

A benchmark labeled 1080p may not be testing the same settings as your game.

Render scale, upscaling, ray tracing, the graphics preset, and even the scene can change how much work the PC does.

Before treating a lower FPS number as a hardware problem, match the game version and those settings. Replay the same short section twice. Compare a repeatable average, not one brief peak.

The case's drive activity LED flashes when storage is being accessed. It connects to the motherboard's front-panel header.

A flashing light alone does not prove that a drive is failing. If you are tracing the light's cable, shut down and unplug the PC first. Use the exact board's manual for the pin layout, not a general diagram.
