A pretty special moment after Saturday’s game! 🏉 🏆 And with Mental Health Awareness Week kicking off, a reminder that connection, belonging and looking out for our mates matter - on and off the field. 🖤

Reflecting on my reo Māori journey this Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori 💛

I tērā tau, i tīmata ahau ki te haere ki Kawhe Kōrero i Pāpāmoa. I te marama o Pēpuere, i tīmata ahau ki te ako i te reo Māori mā Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. He wero, engari he ngahau. Ngā mihi ki a koutou katoa e āwhina ana i ahau.

Last year I started going to Kawhe Kōrero in Pāpāmoa. In February, I started learning te reo Māori through Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. It is challenging, but enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who is helping me.

Along with learning the language and about Te Ao Māori, it's also been a journey of discovery - learning more about family and history, meeting some wonderful people, and experiencing the manaaki and stories shared at local marae.

Kawhe Kōrero meets at Blended Café, Pāpāmoa every Wednesday, 7–8am - very welcoming to all levels of reo. ☕

🌿 FIELDAYS HIGHLIGHT ... As I stood reading the sign I said “I saw Dr Rangi Te Kanawa on Pathfinders last year”... little did I realise she was actually sat in front of me extracting muka from the harakeke. Dr Rangituatahi Te Kanawa is renowned textile conservator and weaver. Had a fascinating kōrero with her, and colleagues from the College of Creative Arts at Massey University and other curious Fieldays folk. Harakeke is far more than a weaving fibre. It's an incredibly strong natural material with so many benefits for people and planet. So cool to give the extraction a go and such a wonderful unexpected experience I'll remember for long after Fieldays. If you’d like to learn more see:
