🌿 FIELDAYS HIGHLIGHT ... As I stood reading the sign I said “I saw Dr Rangi Te Kanawa on Pathfinders last year”... little did I realise she was actually sat in front of me extracting muka from the harakeke. Dr Rangituatahi Te Kanawa is renowned textile conservator and weaver. Had a fascinating kōrero with her, and colleagues from the College of Creative Arts at Massey University and other curious Fieldays folk. Harakeke is far more than a weaving fibre. It's an incredibly strong natural material with so many benefits for people and planet. So cool to give the extraction a go and such a wonderful unexpected experience I'll remember for long after Fieldays. If you’d like to learn more see:
