Meet Caroline Young, our CFO.

Caroline has been part of this business through every version of it. She started part-time when her kids were little, which gave her a career that fitted around her family rather than competing with it. The Pax8 years took her back into a global organisation, which was familiar ground from her pre-kids career. Now she is full-time with Umbrellar Technology Group, leading a team of her own.

What she loves about this chapter is how quickly things move. Decisions get made in the room by the people who own the outcome, the business is growing, and the energy shows it.

She credits a lot of that to Ian. In her words, he has integrity, he empowers people, and he genuinely cares about the whole team. A great leader.

Behind the scenes, we spend a lot of time making sure the options we offer customers keep pace with where technology is heading.

This month we deepened our partnership with Atturra, building out our cloud-native and managed-services capability, including container and platform modernisation with OpenShift workloads. The Microsoft CSP pricing increases we flagged earlier in the year came into effect this month, and now is a sensible moment to make sure your licensing is still working in your favour.

If you have not already had the conversation with your account manager, three checks are worth doing:
1️⃣ Look at your upcoming renewals and co-term dates so nothing renews on autopilot.
2️⃣ Weigh annual versus monthly commitments, since an annual term can save up to 20% on some SKUs.
3️⃣ Confirm your licensing still matches how your teams actually work, particularly Copilot for Business, which is now the more cost-effective option for many Business Premium environments.

Microsoft 365 Copilot has crossed a line this year. It has moved from something teams were curious about to something they are actively rolling out.

Over the past month we have been helping customers move teams onto Copilot for Business licensing, now the more cost-effective option for Business Premium environments, and stand up Teams Rooms to match. The licensing and the value case are both in a much stronger place than they were six months ago, which changes the maths for organisations that had parked AI on the maybe-next-year list.

New Zealand's threat landscape took a sharp turn this quarter.

The latest figures from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) show $5.6 million in direct financial loss in Q1 2026 - a 76% jump on the previous quarter, with individual New Zealanders accounting for $5.2 million of it.

Phishing and credential harvesting was the most-reported incident type, with 437 cases. The lesson isn't complicated, and that's the point: the basics still do the heavy lifting. If you haven't reviewed these lately, now's the time:

👉🏼 Multi-factor authentication on every account that matters
👉🏼 Access control and least-privilege reviews
👉🏼 Security awareness for your people (your strongest and weakest link)
👉🏼 Ongoing review of your exposed risk
