There is already a fair bit of detective work in what I do here.
On the digitising side, someone sends me a slightly blurry screenshot and I work out what it was meant to be, then hand digitise it until it stitches properly on real fabric. On the custom side the mysteries are less glamorous, mostly along the lines of who ordered a size that nobody will admit to.
So when I say I moonlight writing mysteries, it is not that big a leap. Mystery, She Sewed is my embroidery mystery stitch along brand, and it has just moved into a home of its own at mysteryshesewed.com. You open a case, then the clues and original designs arrive weekly for four weeks and you stitch your way to the answer. Two cases waiting so far, and more being written.
Digitising and custom embroidery are still very much the day job, so keep sending them my way π
Well hello, detective. π Since this page is looking rather new and mysterious, allow me to introduce myself properly.
I'm Mandy, a self-confessed machine embroidery addict from Auckland, and Mystery, She Sewed is what happened when I mixed my two favourite things: machine embroidery and a good whodunit.
Here's how it works. You open a case, and each week the clues arrive in your inbox as original machine embroidery designs. You stitch along, gather the evidence, puzzle over the riddles, and by the final week you name your culprit and file your verdict.
Every design fits a 4x4 hoop, complete beginners are very welcome, and two cases are already open on the Case Board: Cold Case in Room 13, and The Haunted Quilt of Hollow Manor for those who like their mysteries with a shiver.
