Thinking about opening a restaurant?
Before you invest your money, make sure you understand these 5 things first — especially if you don’t want to end up in a loss.
1. Location
Cheap rent doesn’t always mean a good location.
Understand your target customers, demand in the area, parking, visibility, and accessibility before choosing a place.
2. Customer
Don’t create a menu first and then look for customers.
First understand who your customer is, then build your menu and pricing around them.
3. Sales ≠ Profit
Making Rs. 1 lakh in sales doesn’t mean you made Rs. 1 lakh in profit.
Food cost, salaries, rent, electricity, wastage and other expenses all come out of that.
4. Operations
Good food is important, but so are inventory, purchasing, kitchen workflow, staff management and wastage control.
Small operational mistakes can quietly cost you money every day.
5. Marketing
Don’t expect customers to automatically come just because you opened a restaurant.
Marketing should start before opening — from social media and offers to reviews and repeat customers.
Because opening a restaurant isn’t just about opening a shop.
You’re building a business.
