📱 Buying a Second-Hand iPhone? Don’t Pay Until You Check These 5 Things.
A second-hand iPhone can be a great way to get a premium phone for less money.
But here’s the problem:
Two phones can be the same iPhone model and still have completely different conditions.
One might have a healthy battery, original components, and everything working perfectly.
Another might have a replaced display, weak battery, damaged charging port, or problems with Face ID.
So before you hand over your money, take a few minutes to check these 5 important things 👇
1. Battery Health
Go to Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging and check the Maximum Capacity.
But don't stop there. Also look for battery service information and ask whether the battery has been replaced.
2. Display & Touchscreen
Test the entire screen—not just the center.
Look for dead spots, flickering, unusual colors, lines, scratches, uneven brightness, and ghost touches.
3. Parts & Repair History
Go to Settings → General → About and check for Parts and Service History, when available.
Knowing whether the battery, display, camera, or other components have been replaced can make a big difference.
4. IMEI & Activation Lock
Check the device's IMEI and make sure the previous owner's Apple Account has been completely removed.
⚠️ Never buy a phone that is still linked to someone else's account or has Activation Lock enabled.
5. Test the Important Features
Don't just look at the phone—use it.
Test:
• Front & rear cameras
• Face ID
• Speakers & microphone
• Charging port
• Volume & side buttons
• Wi-Fi & Bluetooth
• Mobile network
• Vibration and other important functions
💡 Here's the most important lesson:
Don't choose a second-hand iPhone based only on its price.
A cheaper iPhone can become an expensive purchase if you discover major problems after buying it.
Before you buy, inspect it, test it, and understand its history.
