बंगलादेशमा शेख हसिनाको अवामी लिगलाई प्रतिबन्ध लगाएर गरिएको चुनावमा बीएनपीले दुई तिहाई बहुमत जित्यो। जमान ए इस्लामी ६८ सीटसहित प्रधान प्रतिपक्षी बन्यो। राष्ट्रिय नागरिक पार्टीले ६ सीट जित्यो र यसको नेता नाहिद इस्लाम निर्वाचित भए। निर्वाचनमा करिब ६०% मत खसेको थियो। केही दलले धाँधलीको आरोप लगाए। अब बंगलादेश सहज लोकतान्त्रिक प्रक्रियातर्फ अगाडि बढ्ने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ।

In Bangladesh, BNP, led by Tarique Rahman, won a two-thirds majority after elections that banned Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League. Jatiya-e-Islami became the main opposition with 68 seats. National Citizen Party (NCP) won 6 seats, led by Nahid Islam. Around 60% of voters participated, and some parties alleged fraud. Bangladesh is expected to move toward a democratic process.
