3. Take responsibility. Don't wait for someone else to handle everything.

The best bands aren't just made up of great musicians.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗴𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗽.

If your band wants to play more shows, start treating booking like something you can actively work on:

𝟭. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁.
Find venues, festivals and promoters that actually fit your band.

𝟮. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁.
Don't send the same generic DM to 50 venues. Find out who's responsible for booking.

𝟯. 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼.
Keep it short. Introduce the band, include your music, live footage and relevant links, and explain why you'd be a good fit.

𝟰. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵.
Who did you contact? When? Did they reply? When should you follow up?

𝟱. 𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽.
No reply doesn't always mean no. A polite follow-up can make the difference.
You don't have to sit around hoping someone discovers your band.

Find the right opportunities. Reach out. Follow up. Repeat. 🎸

𝗪𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝗴𝘀?
Don't wait until you see an application post on Instagram.

𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄:

1. Make a list of at least 20 festivals that fit your band.
2. Add the festival dates and location.
3. Find out who handles the booking.
4. Save their name, email and other contact details.
5. Find out when applications or pitches open.
6. Add a deadline and follow-up date.
7. Keep adding festivals whenever you discover a good fit.

𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁.

Pitch on time, keep track of who you've contacted and follow up when appropriate.

Here are 3 reasons you might still be stuck there:

𝟭. 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗨𝗘𝗦.
It's easy to blame the market, promoters or the lack of opportunities. But you can't control those things.

𝟮. 𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗣𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗗.
Wanting bigger gigs isn't enough. You need to actively build toward them.

𝟯. 𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗔 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗚𝗢𝗔𝗟.
If you don't know where you're trying to go, it's hard to know what you should be doing differently.
