Hello,
We are looking for freelancers, resident in Germany or the US, to participate in a 15-20
minute survey for a research project of the Berlin Social Science Center
(https://www.wzb.eu/en). As a thank you for your participation you will receive an Amazon
voucher worth 15 Euro/ 17 USD.
What is it about?
The survey is part of the 3-year research project "Between Digital Bohemia and Precarity.
Work and Performance in the Crowd". We have already conducted interviews with several
platforms, including Crowdsite, Upwork and 99designs. To obtain a complete picture we
would now like to survey those who are active on them.
The survey is aimed at people, who regularly do paid work on online platforms. The questions
center on your experiences on platforms, your motives for platform activity and your
perception of the work situation. The survey serves as the basis for a comprehensive analysis
of the working conditions across different platforms, which the research group also wants to
help improve.
How can I participate?
To prevent that the survey is conducted multiple times by one person, we use individual
survey links. If you would like to participate in the survey, please send us an e-mail to:
[email protected]. We will then send you a unique survey link. In addition, we ask
you to attach a screenshot of your Crowdsite profile to the email. Unfortunately, this is
necessary to avoid people filling in the survey who are not registered with Crowdsite.
All information is treated anonymously and no one can draw any conclusions on the response
behavior of individual persons. The results are for research purposes only. No individual data
will be shared with the platforms or third parties and used for other purposes.
You will receive the voucher upon completion of the survey to the Email address specified by
you. The payment is independent of the chosen answers, but the questionnaires are checked.
In case of obvious deception or early termination of the survey, we reserve the right to non-
payment.

Worum geht’s?
Die Umfrage findet im Rahmen des 3-jährigen Forschungsprojekts "Zwischen digitaler
Bohème und Prekarisierung. Arbeit und Leistung in der Crowd" statt. Mit Crowdsite,
Upwork, 99designs und vielen anderen Plattformen haben wir bereits Interviews geführt. Um
das Forschungsbild zu vervollständigen, wollen wir nun diejenigen befragen, die auf
Plattformen aktiv sind!
Die Umfrage richtet sich an Personen, die auf Onlineplattformen regelmäßig bezahlte
Tätigkeiten verrichten. Die Fragen drehen sich um die persönlichen Erfahrungen und Motive.
Die Befragung dient als Grundlage für eine umfassende Analyse der Arbeitsbedingungen auf
verschiedenen Plattformen, womit wir auch zu deren Verbesserung beitragen wollen.

Wenn Sie bei der Umfrage mitmachen wollen schicken Sie uns bitte eine E-Mail an:
[email protected], damit wir Ihnen einen individualisierten Umfragelink
zuschicken können. Zusätzlich bitten wir Sie, der Email einen Screenshot ihres Crowdsite
Profils beizufügen.
Dies ist leider notwendig zu vermeiden, dass Personen die Umfrage
ausfüllen, die nicht bei Crowdsite registriert sind.
Alle Informationen werden anonymisiert, sodass kein Rückschluss auf die jeweilige Person
möglich ist. Die Ergebnisse dienen ausschließlich Forschungszwecken. Individuelle Daten
werden nicht an die Plattformen oder Dritte weitergegeben und nicht für andere Zwecke
genutzt.
Ihren Gutschein erhalten Sie nach Beendigung der Umfrage auf die von Ihnen angegebene
Email-Adresse. Die Bezahlung ist unabhängig von den gewählten Antworten, allerdings
werden die Fragebögen geprüft. Bei offensichtlicher Täuschung oder Abbruch der Umfrage
behalten wir uns das Recht der Nichtauszahlung vor.
