One of the most misinterpreted scriptures on the Bible amongst many is
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
A lot of times this scripture is used by Christians when it comes to praise, dancing and being free in the church which as a whole is an abrupt misinterpretation of the scripture.
When reading the preceding verses we would come to understand that what Paul was trying to establish in that chapter was the freedom and access a believer has when he comes into Christ and gains access to the ministry of the spirit.
He made us to understand in verse 12-15 that as long as a man is not in Christ his sight is veiled in that he cannot see even the truth if the gospel talk more of the fullness of God, but once the man comes into the reality of Christ and submits under him and the spirit of the lord rests upon him that veil is done away and when the believer turns to God (continually seeks him) the veil is taken away completely.
Liberty then is used to describe the freedom and access a man that is in Christ has before God, it was used to show that a believer has no restrictions whatsoever when it came to the gospel of Christ but he/she has freedom to know God as much as he is willing to.
Therefore, liberty in that scripture is not freedom of expression or movement (dancing and jumping) but freedom of access, access to knowledge!
One of the default gifts from God to a convert is the ministry of the spirit of the lord and when the spirit of the lord rests on a believer and dwells inside him, it gives the man liberty to know the things God alone knows!
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
