BRAND IDENTITY OVERVIEW
(what does it mean?)
📌 Brand identity is the unique and distinct visual, verbal, and emotional representation of a brand.
📌 It encompasses the core elements that define how a company presents itself to the public and how it wants to be perceived.
📌 It's a powerful tool for creating a consistent and memorable brand image, fostering customer loyalty, and distinguishing a brand in a crowded marketplace.
What entails a brand identity includes:
1. Visual Elements: These are the aspects people can see. They include;
• Logo: A symbol, graphic mark, or letter combination that is the most recognizable visual representation of the brand; e.g., our brand's logo is a combination of the letters V, E, and C.
• Color palette: a specific set of colors that are consistently used in all brand materials to create a cohesive look, e.g., our brand's colors are blue, white, and brown.
• Typography: the choice of fonts and text styles that are used in all written communications, ensuring consistency and readability, e.g., ours is Canva sans
• Imagery: the selection of photos, illustrations, or graphics that align with the brand's personality and values.
2. Verbal Elements: These are the words and language associated with the brand. They include:
• Tagline or Slogan: A concise and memorable phrase that encapsulates the brand's essence or value proposition. E.g Our tagline is "where creativity meets strategy."
• Brand voice: the tone, style, and manner in which the brand communicates, whether it's formal, casual, friendly, or authoritative.
3. Emotional Elements:This aspect of brand identity is more abstract but equally important. It involves:
• Brand Values: The principles and beliefs that the brand stands for, which guide its actions and decision-making.
• Brand personality: the human-like traits or characteristics assigned to the brand, such as being friendly, reliable, innovative, etc.
• Brand Story: The narrative or history behind the brand that connects with customers on a deeper, emotional level.
Other elements of brand identity include consistency, differentiation, and customer perception.
So when you think of setting up a brand, also think of your brand's identity and what sets it apart from the crowd.
