The most detailed report ever written about you wasn't written by you.
Your phone wrote it.
And it has been updating it every single day without ever asking for your permission.
Here's what makes it interesting.
Most people think data collection means someone knowing your name and email address. That's the small stuff. The real picture goes much deeper than that.
Your phone knows what time you woke up this morning.
It knows how many times you picked it up before getting out of bed.
It knows which post made you stop scrolling and stare for 12 seconds.
It knows the route you took to work, the coffee shop you walked past.
It knows whether you went to the gym or skipped it again.
It even knows your mood.
Not because you told it. But because the way you type, the apps you open, and the content you engage with at 2am tells a story that is surprisingly easy to read if you know what you are looking for.
And trust me they know what they are looking for.
All of that information gets collected, organised and analysed by teams of people whose entire job is to understand you better than you understand yourself.
Why?
So they can show you exactly what keeps you scrolling. Sell you exactly what you were about to want. And keep you coming back before you even realise it.
As a Data Analyst, I work with data every single day. And I find it sobering to think about how much of my own story is being written without me in the room.
The data game is much bigger than most people realise.
Did any of this surprise you? And does knowing this change how you use your phone?
I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts below 👇
