The Management of Leventis Foundation Nigeria, Agric Training School Tumu, Gombe State (LFN, Tumu) yesterday, Thursday 27th February 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Gombe State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Sunusi Ahmed Maidalan Pindiga. The visit was led by Mr. Mark Matthew , the Principal of Leventis Foundation, alongside other members of the school's management team.
During the visit, Mr. Mark spoke passionately about the importance of continued collaboration between the Leventis Foundation and the Gombe State Government. He emphasized the need for concerted efforts in training the youth of Gombe State in modern agricultural practices as a pathway to self-reliance, job creation, and reducing the burden on government employment.
Mr. Mark highlighted the longstanding and mutually beneficial relationship between Leventis Foundation and the Gombe State Government. Through this partnership, the state government has continuously provided counterpart funding for the smooth and successful training of Gombe youth in various agricultural disciplines. These disciplines include crop production, animal production, rural enterprise development (RED), agricultural engineering, farm management, fish farming, beekeeping, and agroforestry, among others.
The Principal further outlined the key benefits that Leventis Foundation offers to its students. He emphasized that the institution provides free tuition, accommodation, and feeding for all admitted students. Furthermore, students are provided with essential farming equipment, such as hoes, cutlasses, and practical uniforms. As part of the hands-on learning experience, each trainee is allocated a free piece of farmland, which comes with harrowing and ridging support. The trainees are responsible for physical labor on their allocated lands throughout the agricultural season.
In addition, Mr. Mark stated that every trainee who successfully graduates from the program is provided with a stipend after a market survey of their farm produce. This stipend serves as seed funding to help them establish their own agricultural business, thus ensuring continued self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods.
Hon. Sunusi Ahmed Maidalan Pindiga, in his response, expressed immense gratitude and joy for the visit, praising the Leventis Foundation’s efforts to empower the youth of Gombe State. He reaffirmed that the current leadership at Leventis Foundation, led by Mr. Mark, is on the right track by equipping the youth with practical skills in modern agriculture. He noted that even if the graduates cannot secure government employment, they would be well-prepared to establish their own businesses, thus contributing to the economic growth of Gombe State and the nation at large.
The Commissioner also commended the Leventis Foundation for its commitment to capacity building and its role in improving the agricultural sector, which remains a vital part of Nigeria’s economy. He pledged the continued support of the Gombe State Government to the Foundation’s efforts, reiterating that the state's partnership with Leventis Tumu is an essential step toward creating opportunities for the youth in the region.
This courtesy visit is a testament to the growing relationship between Leventis Foundation Agric Training School and the Gombe State Government. It signals a shared commitment to advancing agricultural education, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and fostering a future where the youth of Gombe can thrive in the agricultural sector.
