The Taraba State Government under Governor Agbu Kefas is reportedly considering the re-employment of some individuals previously identified as unverified workers, popularly referred to as “ghost workers,” into the state civil service.

The development is said to be part of efforts to give affected individuals another opportunity through a proper employment and documentation process.

Sources indicate that the planned exercise will focus on ensuring due process, transparency, and compliance with civil service procedures before any fresh appointments are finalized.

The move has continued to generate reactions among residents, with many describing it as an opportunity for affected persons to secure legitimate employment under the current administration.

Taraba State University Community Mourns Popular Food Vendor, Mama Tolu.

The Taraba State University community has been thrown into mourning following the passing of Mrs. Mercy Funmilayo Babalola, popularly known as Mama Tolu, a beloved food vendor whose restaurant near the university’s first gate became a home to many students and residents over the years.

According to sources, Mama Tolu appeared healthy after returning from church service before her condition reportedly worsened suddenly later in the day. She was rushed to the hospital for medical attention but sadly passed away.
Her death has sparked emotional reactions across the TSU community, with students, alumni, and residents expressing shock and sadness over the loss of a woman many described as kind-hearted, caring, and generous.

For many students, Mama Tolu’s restaurant was more than just a place to eat. It was a gathering point filled with warmth, encouragement, and affordable meals that supported countless students through their academic journey.

Several tributes shared online highlighted her motherly role on campus, especially during difficult periods when she continued helping students despite economic challenges.

Her absence is expected to leave a deep void within the university environment and the ATC community where she was widely known and respected.

May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. 🤲💔
