BemsGroup at the Forefront of Digital Media & AI Discourse
Yesterday, the Group Managing Director of BemsGroup, Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie, attended and delivered the Keynote Address at the 3rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Abia State Online Media Publishers Association of Nigeria (OMPAN), held at the Umuahia North Local Government Council Headquarters, Umuahia.
The AGM, themed “The Impact of AI on Media Practice in the 21st Century,” brought together key stakeholders from government, security agencies, business, and the media to deliberate on the future of journalism in an era of rapid technological advancement.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie challenged media practitioners to see Artificial Intelligence not as a threat, but as an inevitable tool that must be mastered, emphasizing that:
AI will not replace journalists, but journalists who use AI will replace those who do not.
He encouraged Nigerian media professionals to embrace AI responsibly as a strategic co-pilot, while upholding ethics, professionalism, and journalistic integrity in shaping Africa’s digital narrative.
The event also featured goodwill messages from the Abia State Government, delivered on behalf of Governor Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to ethical, digitally driven media practice and innovation.
In recognition of his contribution to digital innovation, leadership, and media development, Dr. Pastra Arinze Etie was presented with an Award, a testament to BemsGroup’s growing influence in driving conversations around technology, governance, and sustainable development.
At BemsGroup, we remain committed to innovation, capacity building, and supporting platforms that advance ethical media, digital transformation, and national development.
