*NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA NURSES AND MIDWIVES, KWARE BRANCH*
*NURSES WEEK OUTREACH AT SOKOTO STATE CENTRAL PARK*

The Kware Branch of NANNM held a health outreach on 13th May 2026 at Sokoto State Central Park to mark Nurses Week.

We provided drivers, traders, and park workers with:
- Health talks on drug misuse, rest, and healthy diet
- Free blood pressure checks and weight checks
- Counseling on preventive health and safety

The event was covered by NTA and the FNPH Kware Media Team.

In his closing remarks, the Branch Chairman urged participants to rest well, avoid self-medication, and go for regular check-ups. Special thanks to Dr. Abubakar Bagudu Suleiman, Medical Director, for providing a bus for the outreach.

The chairman concluded by assuring the commitment of NANNM FNPH Kware branch to promoting public health awareness and preventive care within the community.

- Gwajin GeneXpert (na majina, bayan gida/stool, da sauran ruwan jiki)

- Bayar da magungunan TB da bibiyar yadda marasa lafiya ke amfani da su
- Ana yin hoton kirji (Chest X-ray) ga masu zargin TB duk ranar Alhamis da ƙarfe 9:00 na safe

*IMPLEMENTATION OF TUBERCULOSIS SCREENING AND TREATMENT SERVICE*

The Management of the *Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Kware, Sokoto* is pleased to announce the establishment of a *Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and Treatment center* within the *Accident and Emergency Unit*.

This is to enhance early TB case detection, diagnosis, and treatment in accordance with national health policy and guidelines.

*SCOPE OF SERVICES*
The following TB-related services are now available to patients:

*A. National TB Center Services*
- Chest X-ray for TB suspects and confirmed cases

*B. Hospital TB Services*
- Sputum microscopy for AFB
- GeneXpert (Sputum, Stool, and other body fluids )
- TB-LAM testing
- Administration and monitoring of anti-TB medications
- *weekly (Thursdays)* chest x-ray for suspected patients by *9* am

All individuals with TB-related symptoms or requiring TB follow-up care are advised to present at the Accident and Emergency Unit for evaluation and treatment

*The 3-day Intensive, hands-on training for Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital staff on the new electronic medical record system EMR, provided by Kano Independent Research Center Trust (KIRC), came to an end today marking a pivotal milestone*

The training included Nurses, Doctors, Social welfare officers, Medical records staff, finance teams, TMC and other principal officers ensuring a unified, tech-savvy workforce.

This culminated in the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding between the Hospital and Kano Independent Research Center Trust (KIRC). This agreement not only ushers in advanced digital health technology but also reinforces a shared commitment to ethical research, robust data protection, and sustainable infrastructure.

The MoU was signed by Barrister Naziru Ibrahim Muhammad on behalf of KIRCT while Dr. Zubairu Umar who is the Head of clinical services
signed on behalf Federal Neuropsychiatric hospital Kware for the Medical Director Dr Abubakar Suleiman Baguda.

Also in attendance were TMC Members from FNPHK, Dr Aisha Adam and Dr Surajo Danja from KIRCT.

Together, we are setting a new standard for patient care and mental Health research in Nigeria and beyond.

The MoU ensures ongoing Technical support, rigorous research ethics, and a steadfast commitment to data security empowering us to deliver better outcomes for every patient.
