From Ethical Hacking to Machine Learning…

When I started cybersecurity, I focused on attacking systems to understand
weaknesses. Now, I’m learning how to make systems intelligent enough to defend themselves.

Today I started Machine Learning on Kaggle. It feels like going back to being a beginner again — new concepts, new math, new challenges. But growth requires discomfort.

The goal? Build security tools that don’t just react — they predict.
This is just the beginning.

If you’ve ever learned ML, what was the hardest concept for you at the start?

When Your Lab Setup Humbles You…

Yesterday, I tried running a scan on my Windows 10 machine inside a virtual environment while Kali Linux was active.

My PC started hanging seriously. After troubleshooting, I realized something important:

My system simply doesn’t have the hardware capacity to run Windows 10 and Kali Linux efficiently at the same time — especially during resource-intensive scans.

Lesson learned: In cybersecurity, your lab environment matters. RAM, CPU cores, and storage speed are not optional — they directly affect performance, testing accuracy, and productivity. This experience reminded me that building a solid home lab isn’t just about installing tools. It’s about building the right infrastructure.

Now I’m reviewing: RAM upgrade options , Optimizing VM resource allocation, Lightweight lab alternatives

Growth in cybersecurity isn’t only about knowledge — it’s also about environment.

Have you ever had your lab setup limit your workflow?

Yesterday, I heard something that didn’t surprise me… but it should scare you.

Someone got hacked through a simple phishing email.
No brute force. No zero-day exploit. Just one click.
The scary part? The email looked legitimate. That’s how modern attacks work. They don’t break systems — they trick humans.

Phishing is still the #1 initial access vector in cyber attacks because: it creates urgency, it mimics trusted brands, it exploits emotion, not technology
Before you click any link today, ask yourself: “Did I request this?”
Cybersecurity is not just about firewalls.
It’s about awareness.

Have you ever received a suspicious email that almost fooled you?

Why do you need to learn coding as a Cyber security analyst.

Most of the way we gain access to systems, and websites are through wrong configuration in our codes. We find vulnerabilities in systems and exploit them. You need to know some basic programming languages like python, Java script and php to become an effective hacker.

So are you able to find the vulnerability in these lines on code?

I remember the day when I turned on kali Linux, Windows 10, Metasploitable 2, all in my virtual environment, and Ubuntu (which is my base OS) and my system crashed immediately.

Then I discovered that it is not just about buying a laptop, but buying a laptop that can carry much task at a time.

Can your system carry 4 operating systems at a time? Or have you ever experienced such? Share your experience.

The Day My IP Address Taught Me Networking

I was setting up my virtual lab and noticed something strange.

Instead of getting a 192.168.x.x address, my system showed 169.254.x.x.

At first, I thought it was just another VM glitch.

It wasn’t.

I later learned that 169.254.x.x is an APIPA address. It means the system failed to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.

In simple terms, my machine couldn’t communicate properly with the network.

That issue forced me to truly understand how DHCP works, the difference between NAT and Bridged adapters, how routers assign private IP addresses, and why proper network configuration matters in pe*******on testing labs.

Fixing it wasn’t just about restoring internet access. It was about understanding what was happening underneath the surface.

Sometimes, technical frustration is just networking theory asking you to pay attention.

Break. Troubleshoot. Learn. Repeat.

They gave me Chemistry.

It wasn’t the course I originally planned for.
I wanted Computer Science.
But admission offered me Chemistry instead.

At first, it felt like a setback.
Then I realized something important:

A degree is a platform — not a limitation.
So while studying Chemistry in the lab,
I kept building my skills in cybersecurity outside the classroom.
• Learning Linux
• Setting up virtual labs
• Studying ethical hacking
• Practicing consistently

This lab coat represents where I was placed.
Cybersecurity represents where I’m headed.

Your starting point doesn’t define your destination.
Your decisions do.

WHY I STARTED LEARNING MACHINE LEARNING

When I began my journey in cybersecurity, I realized something important:

Attackers are evolving.

They’re no longer just using simple scripts. Many modern attacks are automated, adaptive, and powered by AI.

So I asked myself:

How do you defend against intelligent systems?

You learn how they work.

That’s why I started learning Machine Learning.

Not because it’s trending.
Not because it sounds impressive.

But because cybersecurity is changing.

Machine Learning is now used for:
Detecting anomalies in network traffic
Identifying phishing emails
Classifying malware
Detecting fraud in real time

If I want to become a stronger cybersecurity professional, I can’t ignore the tools shaping the future.

Learning ML is challenging — math, statistics, algorithms — but growth is never comfortable.

Every new concept I understand expands how I think about security.

This isn’t just about adding a skill.

It’s about staying relevant.

The future of cybersecurity belongs to those who understand both security and AI.

Are you learning something today that your future self will thank you for?

You’re Probably One Click Away From Being Hacked…

Let me explain.

Most cyber attacks don’t happen because hackers are “geniuses.”
They happen because people ignore basic security habits.

If you use:
• Facebook
• Instagram
• Online banking
• Public Wi-Fi
• Email

You are a potential target.

Here are 5 cybersecurity habits that can protect you starting today:

1. Stop Using the Same Password Everywhere
If one account gets breached, attackers try the same password on your other accounts.

2. Turn On Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
This alone can block the majority of account takeover attempts.

3. Think Before You Click
Phishing emails now look almost identical to real ones. Always verify the sender.

4. Update Your Devices
Updates are not “annoying” — they patch security vulnerabilities.

5. Avoid Sensitive Logins on Public Wi-Fi
Free Wi-Fi can cost you your data.

Cybersecurity is no longer optional. It’s a life skill.

If you found this helpful, follow me for more practical cybersecurity insights explained in simple terms.

What’s one security habit you struggle with?
