The sad reality of life.
Oftentimes we here the phrase “this life no balance”. We here it every now and then that it has become a cliché. Every man is destined to be on one side of life at a particular time. Its either you are on the fair side or not.
Instinctively when people come across a blind person, they allay their worldly worries and quietly appreciate God for not taking their site from them.
In other words, the less privelleged is often a point of reference in people's gratitude to God who spared them from such a terrible fate.
This is exactly why one who's bitter for not being able to buy a pair of desired shoes will be reminded by people of the crippled, and admonished for being ungrateful to God.
This is why spotting a blind man struggling to find his way will prompt you to start thanking God despite your inability to get the fancy eyeglasses you want so badly.
This may not sit well with some people but I have to say it anyway. In churches especially, pastors will tell you to thank God for sparing your life, for making your body parts complete, and for so many other things. He will remind you of people in the hospital and how you could have had the same hard life as them if not for God's infinite mercies upon your life.
A non-disabled person will appreciate God for having no disability. Someone with a deformity on one of his hands will appreciate god for not riding on wheelchair. A wheelchair user will thank God for not plunging him into total darkness, a Fate the blind suffer. Both the blind and deaf will convince each other which disability is worse and appreciate God for conferring one on them and not the other. And so the cycle continues.
Can we all stop these comparative Thanksgiving to God as it makes it look like God loves the less privelleged any less.
