Rainbows 🌈 are one of nature’s most beautiful optical phenomena, and they’re actually a combination of physics, weather, and perception. Here’s a breakdown:
How Rainbows Form
Sunlight & Water Droplets: Rainbows occur when sunlight passes through tiny water droplets in the air, often after rain.
Refraction: Light bends (refracts) as it enters a droplet because light travels slower in water than in air.
Reflection: Inside the droplet, the light reflects off the back of the droplet.
Refraction Again: The light bends again as it exits the droplet, spreading into a spectrum of colors.

Colors of the Rainbow
The typical rainbow has seven main colors, remembered by the acronym ROYGBIV:
R – Red
O – Orange
Y – Yellow
G – Green
B – Blue
I – Indigo
V – Violet
Sometimes people just count six colors, merging indigo and blue.

Circular Rainbows: From a plane, rainbows can appear as full circles. From the ground, we usually see only an arc.

Double Rainbows: Sometimes, a second, fainter rainbow appears outside the main one, with reversed colors.

No Two People See the Same Rainbow: Each person sees their own rainbow because it depends on the angle of the sunlight and their position.
