GETTING CERTIFIED AS A BEGINNER IN TECH

Tech certification is an official recognition that you have gained specific skills and knowledge in a certain area of technology.

It’s like a stamp of approval that shows employers you are qualified to do certain tech-related tasks.

For example, if you want to work in IT support, getting certified in Google IT Support or CompTIA IT Fundamentals tells employers that you know how to fix problems with computers, networks, and other tech systems.

Why You Need Tech Certifications?

They show you're skilled– even if you have no formal job experience.

They help you stand out in a crowded job market.

They give you confidence_ once you’ve earned one, you’ll know you’re ready for entry-level jobs in tech.

How To Start with Tech Certification?
📌Choose Your Interest Area
Before you get certified, you need to know which part of tech interests you the most. Do you like fixing computers? Or maybe managing websites?

📌Find Learning Resources
You don’t need to go to a traditional school. There are many free or affordable courses online that will help you prepare for your certification exams. Some popular learning platforms include:
Coursera, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, Google Skillshop

📌Study and Practice

📌Take the Exam

📌Apply for Jobs with your certificate

Remember don’t try to rush into advanced certifications. Start with foundational ones and build your knowledge step-by-step.

It’s a journey – take your time and enjoy learning. Ask me your questions if you have any.

I wish you all the best 🤗🤗

How to Build Your Tech Portfolio

If you have been following judiciously everything I have been sharing with you in this page, you would have identified your area of interest in tech and also working towards it.

At this point, I believe it's important for you to have a portfolio for that skill you have been learning, that's why I am bringing this topic to you today.

A strong portfolio showcases your skills, creativity, and ability to solve problems.

Now here’s how to get a portfolio:

1️⃣ Identify Your Skills
What tech skills have you mastered? (e.g., coding, UI/UX design, data analysis).

Focus on your strengths and be specific.

2️⃣ Choose a Platform
Use tools like GitHub
https://github.com for projects you have done that required codes.

Use Behance
https://www.behance.net or Dribbble https://dribbble.com for any design project

Create a simple website with platforms like Wix, WordPress, or Webflow and display your works.

3️⃣ Add Key Projects
Include projects that highlight your skills.

Show before-and-after transformations or provide clear explanations.

Add personal projects if you lack real-world experience.

4️⃣ Write Case Studies
For each project, explain:
🔹 The problem you solved.
🔹 Your process.
🔹 The results or impact.

5️⃣ Keep It Simple
Focus on quality, not quantity.
Make your portfolio visually appealing and easy to navigate.

6️⃣ Update Regularly
As you grow, so should your portfolio.
Replace older projects with more advanced ones.

Don't Forget to add a section about yourself and your career goals to make your portfolio more personal.

Your portfolio is one touch point that will convince a client to hire you.

Goodluck 🥰🥰

You can also share the link to your portfolio when done, for a review.

Do you have questions? Drop them in the comments section.

CHOOSING YOUR PATH_ CODING OR NON-CODING

One of the good things I experienced with having a career mentor before I started my tech journey was a good guidance. I was shown the right path and that has been helping me till date.

That's why I'm sharing this post to help you take calculated steps and guided decisions in your tech journey.

Read carefully and choose the best path for yourself!

Coding Careers
These roles involve writing code to create websites, apps, and software. If you enjoy problem-solving, logical thinking, and creating things, coding might be for you!

📌Web Developer: Build and maintain websites. You’ll work on both the look (frontend) and how it works (backend).
📌Software Developer: Create software for computers and mobile devices.
📌Mobile App Developer: Build apps for Android and iOS.
📌Data Scientist: Use coding to analyze data and find insights.

Non-Coding Careers
Not a fan of coding? No worries! There are plenty of tech roles that don’t require writing code but are just as important.

📌UI/UX Designer: Focus on creating great user experiences. You’ll design how websites and apps look and feel to users.
📌Product Manager: Oversee the development of products from start to finish.
📌Project Manager: Similar to a product manager, but with a focus on managing the entire project team to deliver on time.
📌Technical Writer: Simplify complex tech topics and write documentation that helps users understand how to use products.
📌Digital Marketer: Promote products and services online using social media, SEO, and ads.

Remember, the tech industry is vast, and you can always switch roles or explore new skills as you grow. The key is to start with what interests you and build from there.

Basic Things To Know Before Starting Out In Tech

📌 Choose a Path:
The tech industry is vast and diverse. Start by exploring different areas, such as software development, web design, data analysis, or cybersecurity. Determine what excites you the most.

📌 Learn the Fundamentals:
Before diving deep into complex topics, familiarize yourself with the basic concepts. For coding, this includes understanding programming languages (like Python or Java), algorithms, and data structures. If you're leaning towards non-coding roles, learn about user experience (UX) principles, project management methodologies, and how tech products are developed and maintained. These fundamentals create a strong foundation for your future learning.

📌 Get Hands-On Experience:
Theory is essential, but hands-on practice solidifies your knowledge. Engage in real-world projects, whether through internships, freelance work, or personal projects. Platforms like GitHub allow you to collaborate on code, while online tutorials can guide you in building your own applications. The more you practice, the more confident you'll become in applying what you’ve learned.

📌Networking:
Building a network is crucial in the tech industry. Join online forums, attend local meetups, or participate in tech webinars. Connecting with other tech enthusiasts, professionals, and mentors can provide valuable insights, support, and potential job opportunities.

📌 Keep Learning:
Follow tech blogs, subscribe to newsletters, or take online courses. Stay curious, and don’t hesitate to explore new areas of interest.

Follow, like and share for more tech updates.👌👌
