ENGINEER, IS MY PHONE READY?
The question this woman kept asking us.

Yesterday, a woman walked into our office with her little boy and an iPhone 12 Pro Max that had seen better days.

The screen was damaged. The back glass was broken. The battery had swollen so badly that it was pushing the screen up. To make matters worse, the phone couldn’t detect a SIM card, and the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth weren’t working.

She found us through a Facebook post and contacted us on WhatsApp. During our conversation, I asked her to bring the phone in so we could diagnose it properly before giving her a price.

When we finally diagnosed it, we discovered that the major problem was a baseband issue. That was why the SIM card, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth weren’t working.

We explained the cost of the repairs, and she was surprised. She wasn’t expecting the price to be that high. After some bargaining, we reached an agreement and started the work.

First, we had to tackle the motherboard issue before moving on to the screen, battery and back glass.

At one point, we had separated the board, and the phone was completely opened up on our workbench.

Then came the question

“Engineer, is the phone ready? Is there any improvement? Can I go?”

She was at the reception, while we were inside working the repair lab. She couldn’t see what was happening, so I understood why she kept asking.

I told her something that made me smile:

“You know, sometimes, in the middle of surgery, everything can look scary. It may look as if something terrible is happening, but the surgeon is working to save a life. That’s how phone repair can be too. Right now, your phone is opened up, but we are working to bring it back to life.”

We continued working.

And finally, SUCCESS!

We resolved the baseband issue. The phone could now detect a SIM card, connect to Wi-Fi and use Bluetooth again!

Then we replaced the damaged screen, changed the swollen battery and fixed the broken back glass.

When we were done, the woman tested her phone herself.

SIM card? Working! ✅
Wi-Fi? Working! ✅
Bluetooth? Working! ✅
Face ID? Working! ✅

She confirmed everything, paid for the repair and left our office happy.

And honestly, we were happy too.

Please, my phone keeps restarting by itself!

This iPhone 14 Pro Max came into our shop with a serious restarting problem. It would restart every few minutes.

We diagnosed it, found the fault, and fixed it.

But we didn’t just fix it and hand it over.

IS YOUR iPHONE ALWAYS TELLING YOU “iPHONE STORAGE IS FULL”?

One of the questions I get from iPhone users all the time is:

Chief, my iPhone keeps telling me that storage is full. What can I do?

And honestly, you don’t always need to delete everything on your phone.

Let me explain it in the simplest way possible.

Imagine you have a small room.

You put clothes inside.
You put shoes inside.
You put books inside.
You put bags inside.
You put everything inside.

One day, you try to put another bag inside and the room says:

“No space again!”

That’s exactly what happens to your iPhone.

Your iPhone has a certain amount of storage. For example:

64GB, 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1tb etc.

The bigger the number, the more things your phone can keep.

But even if you have 128GB, that space can still finish.

So let’s look at the things that normally eat up your storage.

1️⃣ CHECK WHAT IS USING YOUR STORAGE

First, don’t start deleting things blindly.

Go to:

Settings → General → iPhone Storage

Give it a little time to calculate.

Your iPhone will show you what is taking the most space.

You may discover that:

📸 Photos are using 30GB
🎥 Videos are using 25GB
📱 WhatsApp is using 15GB
🎵 Music is using 5GB
📲 Other apps are using another 10GB

Now you know where the problem is.

Don’t fight the whole house when you can identify the room that is full.

2️⃣ YOUR VIDEOS CAN EAT STORAGE VERY FAST

This is one of the biggest problems.

A single short video may not look like much.

But imagine recording 500 videos.

Especially 4K videos.

Before you know it, your storage is finished.

Go through your Photos app.

Delete:

❌ Videos you don’t need
❌ Duplicate videos
❌ Old screen recordings
❌ WhatsApp videos you don’t need
❌ Random videos you downloaded and forgot about

And after deleting them, don’t forget something very important:

Go to Recently Deleted and empty it.

Why?

Because when you delete a photo or video, your iPhone normally keeps it in Recently Deleted for a period of time.

So the space may not come back immediately.

3️⃣ CHECK WHATSAPP

If you use WhatsApp heavily, please check this one.

WhatsApp can quietly become a storage monster.
Especially WhatsApp groups 😎

People will send you:

Good morning pictures 🌅
Videos
Voice notes
Documents
Memes 😂
Status videos
Business videos
Family group videos

And before you know it:

“iPhone Storage Almost Full.”

Go to:

WhatsApp → Settings → Storage and Data → Manage Storage

There you can see large files and conversations taking up space.

Delete the things you don’t need.

You don’t have to delete your entire WhatsApp.

Just remove the unnecessary large files.

4️⃣ STOP SAVING EVERY PHOTO AND VIDEO

Some people have 20,000 pictures on their iPhone.

And when you ask:

“Why do you have all these pictures?”

They say:

“I don’t know.” 😂

You don’t need to keep everything forever.

If you took 15 pictures of the same thing, choose the best 2 or 3.

Delete the rest.

If someone sends you a picture that you don’t need, don’t keep it forever.

If you downloaded something for one day and you are done with it, delete it.

Your phone is not a warehouse. 😂

5️⃣ CHECK YOUR DOWNLOADS

Go to the Files app and check your downloads.

You may find:

PDF files
Videos
Documents
Pictures
ZIP files
Old files you downloaded months ago

If you don’t need them anymore, delete them.

Sometimes we forget that files also take up space.

6️⃣ DELETE APPS YOU DON’T USE

Go to:

Settings → General → iPhone Storage

Look at your apps.

You might find an app you downloaded 8 months ago and haven’t opened since.

Ask yourself:

“Do I really need this app?”

If the answer is no, delete it.

But here’s another useful option:

“Offload App”

Your iPhone can remove the app itself while keeping its documents and data.

So if you need the app again later, you can reinstall it.

This can help you free up some space without completely losing the app’s data.

7️⃣ DON’T KEEP EVERYTHING OFFLINE

Some apps allow you to download movies, music, podcasts and other content for offline use.

That’s convenient.

But those downloads also take storage.

So if you downloaded a movie three months ago and you’ve already watched it, delete it.

You can always download it again when you need it.

8️⃣ USE iCLOUD PROPERLY

If you have many important photos and videos, you can consider using iCloud Photos.

Go to:

Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Photos

If you use iCloud Photos, you can also turn on:

Optimize iPhone Storage

This allows your iPhone to keep smaller versions on the device when appropriate while the full-resolution originals are stored in iCloud.

But remember:

iCloud storage and iPhone storage are NOT the same thing.

Your iPhone may have 128GB of physical storage.

iCloud is separate cloud storage.

So don’t confuse the two.

9️⃣ DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOUR STORAGE IS COMPLETELY FULL

This is very important.

Don’t wait until your phone starts shouting:

“iPhone Storage Full!”

before you start cleaning.

Make it a habit.

Maybe once every month, spend 10–15 minutes checking your storage.

Ask yourself:

👉 What is taking the most space?

👉 Do I still need these videos?

👉 Do I still need these apps?

👉 What is WhatsApp storing?

👉 Do I have duplicate photos?

👉 What is inside my Files app?

Small cleaning every month is much easier than trying to clean 20GB of unnecessary files at once.

ONE MORE THING…

If your iPhone storage is full and you have already deleted many things, don’t panic.

Sometimes the biggest problem isn’t simply the number of apps you have.

You need to check exactly what is occupying the storage.

Settings → General → iPhone Storage

That page will tell you where the space is going.

Think of it like checking your bank account.

Before you complain that your money is finished, you check:

“What did I spend this money on?” 😂

Do the same thing with your iPhone storage.

CHECK → IDENTIFY → DELETE WHAT YOU DON’T NEED → CREATE SPACE.

And please, don’t just start deleting important pictures because you are frustrated.

Back up important memories before deleting them.
