7️⃣ We are hiring! Postdoctoral Research Associate - Transportation Health, Safety, and Human Behavior
Professor Kate Hyun is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Sustainable Mobility and Resilient Transportation (SMART) Research Lab at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA).
We are looking for someone interested in understanding how people make decisions and behave in transportation environments, and how we can use that knowledge to improve transportation safety and health.
Our research brings together human-participant studies, behavioral science, transportation engineering, and computational methods. Ongoing areas include:
- Driving behavior, risk perception, attention, and safety using data collected from driving simulation, eye trackers, sensors, and field experiments
- Transportation health from diverse populations including novice and neurodivergent drivers and older adults
- School and community transportation safety
- Rural and Tribal transportation
The postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to lead and co-lead sponsored research projects, design human-participant studies, conduct laboratory and field experiments, analyze complex behavioral data, publish peer-reviewed research, develop proposals, work directly with communities and transportation agencies, and mentor students.
We are especially interested in candidates who can bridge human behavioral research and advanced analytical/ computational approaches. Experience with community-engaged research, human-subject research/IRB, driving simulation, as well as advanced methodological work for transportation safety/health using computer vision and digital twin would be particularly valuable.
Location: Arlington, Texas
Anticipated start: January 15, 2027 or earlier
