SO WHATS A BRAND?
LET'S LEAVE THE LONG WEBSTER OR WIKI DEFINITIONS.
I LOVE TO DO LESS IN WORDS. JUST LIKE WE ALWAYS SAY, LESS IS MORE...
So let's pop the bottle open...
YOUR BRAND IS MORE THAN YOUR LOGO!
Your brand must be very communicative, unique and should create a lasting memorable impression with your target customers and anyone who sees it. It should create the feeling of value that sticks to the mind of your customers when you are not there.
Let's bring it down more.
Your brand credibility to your brand promise, mission, vision, or tagline should be what comes to mind whenever your logo, business cards, presentation slides, letterhead, or other of your brand communications are seen anywhere. That alone your logo cannot do!
So how best should you start these whole process of Brand Identity Development?
Here are my first 5 simple steps to brand development.
1. Decide what you are going to brand (your business, YOU or a product).
2. Do your research.
3. Position your product or service (Strategy etc).
4. Write your brand definition.
5. Develop your brand identity.
But you know what? A whole lot of businesses out there never went through these 5 "simple" steps. Well don't blame anyone. In parable - how can you know that coconut's got an oil if you don't know or have tasted the nuts. One can only know the steps to brand development when he understands the need for branding. If you must attract the right customers to your venture then you cannot do without these listed steps.
