Nigeria’s Federal Executive Council has approved the creation of the National AI Trust, a first-of-its-kind institution designed to mobilise resources, guide responsible AI adoption, and ensure strategic, ethical AI investment across key economic sectors.
Deepblock Led by Minister Bosun Tijani, the vision was unveiled at a two-day convening at Warwick Business School in London, bringing together policymakers, AI experts, academics, and business leaders to shape the Trust’s framework with a clear goal: accountability, inclusion, and long-term sustainability.
A key design principle is institutional longevity built to outlast any single government, so Nigeria’s AI governance can take a longer-term view, independent of political cycles.
