It is a privilege to be the programmer of the "Robots in Residence" programme of the Institut Lagos. The challenge is to create and implement ideas that further the conversation around "addressing questions of artificial intelligence, machine learning, the impact of algorithms and the question (of) to what extent AI is neutral or can normalize, solidify or dismantle racism" and prob the wide user experience gap between the global North and South." I used the past month to equip the humanoid robot with new skills using Python and QiChat.

Anikulapo, which literally means “he who has death in his pouch”, is a period piece set probably in the mid-15th to 16th century in the kingdom of Oyo, at the onset of the slave trade with Portuguese sailing vessels that plied the coast of West Africa. Unlike his other 2014 period piece, October 1, Anikulapo is not historical but based on an Ifa literary corpus, “Idi Osun”, as narrated by the veteran storyteller and actor, Ifayemi Elebuibon, who also acted in the movie. Anikulapo is a tragedy. A reflection on the insatiable desires of man, betrayal and consequences.

The world of Iyanu: Child of Wonder was just the beginning. Dark Horse Comics and author Roye Okupe are expanding their partnership in the years to come. Okupe and his imprint YouNeek Studios have signed on to publish more graphic novels through Dark Horse starting in 2024.
