What if a good hairstyle is simply about bringing out the best features of our face?
This is me thinking out loud now.

I recently realized that a good hairstyle can make the same face look significantly more attractive.

The interesting part is that the face itself hasn't changed; what changed was the presentation, and it made me think about design. The face is the content; the hair is part of the layout.

You can have the same information, but when you change the hierarchy, typography, and alignment, the content suddenly becomes much easier to understand and more appealing to look at.

This is why good design isn't always about creating more content or adding more elements. Sometimes, your message is already good; it simply needs to be presented better.

So before changing the message, ask whether the real problem is how the message is being presented. That's where thoughtful design makes a difference.

People don't remember ideas; they remember what they see.

While your preferences matter to me, I'm also considering what happens after the design leaves your hands and reaches your audience.

Will they understand the message quickly?

Will they know what to look at first?

Will the important information get lost among everything else?

Will the design support what you're actually trying to achieve?

Because your audience has limited attention and your message is competing with other messages out there.

So underneath the colours, images, typography and layout, I'm thinking about:

What needs to be noticed first?

What can be understood in seconds?

What information needs to be prioritized?

What action should the design encourage?

Because your audience doesn't care how difficult and expensive the design was to create.

They care about whether they can understand it.

One of my favorite parts of creating designs is doing so for event publicity purposes. From corporate events, to social events, and the likes.

Here are some designs created for a Food Hangout 2.0 Event, hosted in Port Harcourt City, WA. The event featured popular acts from the comedy industry to Music, Hypemen and DJs.

A client sent me an AI-generated flyer and asked me to redesign it.

My job wasn't to "make it prettier." It was to improve how the information was communicated.

I focused on the way the content was presented. While the AI-generated version competes for attention, the redesign guides your eyes to the most important information first, then naturally leads you through the rest.

Rather than simply stacking information, I grouped related content to make the message easier to scan and understand within seconds.

AI can generate a layout, but a designer creates effective communication through design.

If someone saw your brand visuals today, what would they remember about them later on?

One of the first steps to being remembered is being recognizable.

The goal was to avoid predictable visuals and create an identity that felt modern and distinct, not generic.

NOT EVERY PROJECT HAS TO FIT YOUR NICHE TO DESERVE YOUR BEST WORK.

I don't usually work on church branding projects, but I took this one on because good design principles remain the same regardless of the industry.

For this design, the objective was to create an experience that feels inviting before a single word is spoken.

To achieve that, I focused on:

- A strong focal point that captures attention instantly and remains legible from a distance.

- Bold typography to ensure the welcome message is the first thing people notice as they enter.

- Supporting illustrations and icons that reflect the church's values and culture without competing with the main message.

- A vibrant colour palette and energetic background that communicate warmth, joy, and a sense of community while reinforcing the welcoming atmosphere.

Every design decision was made with one question in mind:
"Will this help people understand the message more quickly and remember it more easily?"

Does typography impact how a design feels???

Typography is not just about how a design looks; it’s also about how it feels.

The choice of typeface can make a brand appear bold, elegant, playful, futuristic, or timeless.

Some time ago, I worked on this music studio logo design where I had to select a typeface that reflects the creativity and energy the brand possesses. The selected typeface helped create contemporary, and Gen Z-inspired aesthetics; the kind of visual language that connects with a younger, digitally driven audience.

A different typeface could have completely changed the personality of the brand. It could have made it feel traditional or corporate. This is why typography is such an important part of identity design, it influences the emotion people associate with a brand before they even interact with it.

Fonts are the visual manifestation of your brand’s voice. Just as words convey your personality, the typeface you choose sets the mood.

Ultimately, fonts are as crucial as the words they spell out. They give your brand a voice, a personality, and a presence. Don’t overlook this powerful tool in your branding arsenal.

With the advent of AI, creating visuals has become easier than ever. But generating a design and creating an effective design are two very different things. AI can produce impressive-looking layouts, but design is not just about adding elements that look good.

For this redesign, I focused on what the audience needed to see first. I reorganized the content around a clear reading path that naturally moves from the event theme, to the speakers, and finally to the event details.

Rather than scattering information across the canvas, I grouped related content into structured sections, which makes the flyer easier to process.

Instead of adding more visual elements, I used contrast, spacing, and color strategically to create focus.

The AI-generated version included several decorative elements; background patterns, gradients, icons, shapes, that competed for attention. In the redesign, many of these elements were simplified or removed. Not because the design needed less creativity, but because the important information needed more room to breathe.
