It's my birthday 🎂

Day 234/365 📌

Today, I am not just celebrating another year of life. I’m celebrating God’s faithfulness. 🙏🏽

Looking back at where I started and seeing where I am today, one thing is clear: I could not have done this by myself.

There were seasons I didn’t know what the next step would be. There were moments I questioned myself, moments things didn’t go as planned and moments I had to start again.

But somehow, God kept making a way.

He gave me strength when I was tired, wisdom when I was uncertain, opportunities I didn’t see coming and people who became part of my journey.

I am grateful for every project, every client, every lesson, every failure, every small win, every opportunity, and every season that helped shape the person I am becoming.

I am especially grateful for the journey of becoming more than just a designer; learning, building, teaching, creating, exploring new skills and discovering that there is so much more I can become.

I may not be where I want to be yet but I am definitely not where I used to be.

And for that, I am grateful.

Thank You, Jesus, for another year.
Thank You for life.
Thank You for growth.
Thank You for grace.
Thank You for the journey so far.

Here’s to another year of purpose, growth, impact, and becoming everything You’ve called me to be. 🥂

Happy birthday to me. 🎂❤️

God has been good. And I am just getting started. 🙏🏽

Wondering how some people always seem to have another way of making money online? 👀

Well, let me tell you for free…

Sometimes, it's not because they know something you don't.

They simply took the time to discover more opportunities.

Because honestly, relying on just one source of income can be risky.

The more you learn about what's available online, the more possibilities you can create for yourself.

And one of those possibilities is learning how to earn in foreign currencies from the comfort of your home. 🌍💰

But you don't have to spend years jumping from one thing to another, trying to figure everything out through trial and error.

You can simply start by learning from someone who can show you the ropes.

That's why I think you should check out Coach Seun's FREE CLASS happening this Sunday, 23rd August, around 8PM. 👀🔥

Think of it as an opportunity to discover another potential income stream and get your first introduction to how people are earning online in foreign currencies.

You don't have to abandon what you're already doing.

Just don't limit yourself to one income stream either.

I used to think the most important part of a client project was the actual design.

Day 231/365 📌

Open Illustrator. Start exploring ideas. Find the right font. Pick the colours. Create something beautiful.

But the more I work with clients, the more I realise that the design is only as good as your understanding of the problem.

This is why I now take discovery sessions much more seriously.

Before I get on a discovery session with a client, I have my book and pen ready.

Not because I'm trying to look professional.

Because I need to listen.

I write down what the client wants.

What problem they're trying to solve.

What they like and don't like.

Who the design is meant for.

What we've agreed on.

What I'm expected to deliver.

And sometimes, even the things they say casually during the conversation can become important later.

After the session, I go through my notes again.

That simple habit has saved me from a lot of unnecessary back and forth.

Sometimes the reason a client says, "This isn't what I had in mind" isn't because you're a bad designer.

Sometimes you simply designed what you understood, while the client had something completely different in their head.

And that's where communication becomes part of your design process.

No be everything be creativity. 😂

You can be extremely creative and still deliver the wrong solution if you don't understand the brief.

You can create the most beautiful logo, flyer, website or brand identity and still miss the mark because you solved the wrong problem.

So these days, I am more focused on understanding before creating.

I ask better questions.

I take notes.

I confirm expectations.

I document agreements.

And when necessary, I repeat what I have understood back to the client before I start designing.

Because I don't just want to make something that looks good.

I want to make something that makes sense.

Something that solves the problem.

Something the client can confidently say:

"Yes, this is exactly what I needed."

I am learning that being a better designer isn't only about improving your creative skills but about becoming a better listener.

I have one person to please: the person who needs the solution.

Yesterday, a client returned to me after 3 weeks.

Day 230/365 📌

She reached out because she needed another design project.

Personally, this is why I don't believe in the idea that “if the client needs you, they'll come back.”

Sometimes, clients don't come back because they don't need you.

Other times, they simply forgot about you.

That's why I have a follow up system.

Here are some practical systems you can implement:

1. Post-project follow up
A few days after delivery, check in. Ask how they're finding the designs and if there's anything else you can help with.

2. 2 to 3 week follow up
If you haven't heard from them, reach out with a simple message. Not necessarily to sell, but to stay relevant.

3. Project based reminders
If you know a client runs campaigns, events, promotions, or monthly content, follow up around those periods.

4. Value based follow up
Don't always say, “Do you have any work for me?”
Share an idea, recommendation or observation that could genuinely help their business.

5. Keep a client list
Track past clients, what you worked on, when you last contacted them and when it makes sense to follow up again.

6. Celebrate their wins
If a past client launches something, hits a milestone, or posts an update, engage with it. Relationships shouldn't only exist when you need money.

Remember, the goal isn't to disturb clients.

The goal is to stay remembered.

That 3-week old client wasn't necessarily looking for a designer.

But because I had a system that kept the relationship alive, when the need came up, she knew exactly who to call.

Client retention isn't always about doing more work, it's simply about not disappearing after the invoice is paid.

The Problem With “Bulk” Design Requests

“Please design group graphic templates for me for social media posts.”

“How many would you need?”

“Like 20 editable.”

It sounds simple.

But here’s something clients need to understand: bulk design is still design.

Asking for 20 editable templates doesn’t automatically make each template cheaper just because they are being requested together.

A designer still has to:

• Understand your brand
• Develop a visual direction
• Create the layouts
• Think through typography and hierarchy
• Make the templates flexible and editable
• Ensure they work across different types of content
• Maintain consistency across all 20 designs
• Make revisions and prepare the final files

In fact, creating a good template system can sometimes require more strategic thinking than designing one off graphics.

If you need 20 templates, that's completely fine. Ask for a bulk package. A designer may even offer a better per design rate because of the volume.

But don't approach it as:

“I'm giving you plenty of work, so each one should be cheap.”

Approach it as:

“I have a larger project. Can we create a package that makes sense for both of us?”

That's how clients and designers build better working relationships.

Bulk should create efficiency, not devalue the skill behind the work.
