Again Plateau Weep
By S.P Dabels
Plateau State, once known for its serene beauty and peaceful coexistence, has been reduced to a theater of bloodshed and tears. The recurrent attacks by Fulani terrorists have claimed countless innocent lives, destroyed properties, and displaced communities. The cries of the bereaved, the wails of the orphans, and the displacement of families have become a recurring nightmare.
The question on every lip is: When will this cycle of violence end? The answer lies in the laps of our political leaders, who have failed woefully in their responsibility to safeguard the lives of the masses. Successive government administrations have promised security, but delivered nothing but empty rhetoric. The people of Plateau State are left to suffer, while our leaders seem more interested in protecting their political interests than protecting human lives.
It's disheartening to note that our traditional and religious leaders, who ought to be the moral compass of our society, have been muted by the crisis. Where are the voices of reason? Where are the calls for peace and unity? The silence is deafening, and the people are paying the price.
But we cannot afford to give up. We must rise above our differences and unite to defend our land, protect our loved ones, and reclaim our stolen land. We must call on our legislators to speak truth to power, enact bills that would enable vulnerable people defend themselves, and ensure that our governor champions this course for the liberation of our people from marauders.
To the men, women, and youths of Plateau State, I say: Let us put aside our political differences and stand together against this tide of violence. Let us demand accountability from our leaders and insist on justice for the victims of these attacks. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and future generations to reclaim our land and ensure that Plateau State is once again a place of peace and prosperity.
The time for action is now.
