The National Skills (N-SKILLS) programme is a flagship initiative of the National Vocational Training Foundation, co-funded by the World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The National Vocational Training Foundation serves as the implementation partner, overseeing the programme's ex*****on.

As a talent incubator, the N-SKILLS programme aims to enhance the employability of Nigerians by providing vocational training across various skills, conveniently accessible at their doorstep. The programme offers a comprehensive 12-month paid stipend during training, as well as during industrial training in private and public sector institutions nationwide.

The N-SKILLS programme is designed as a scalable model to facilitate a transformative and impactful transition for Nigerians, empowering them to move from poverty and unemployment to learning and earning opportunities. This paradigm shift is expected to significantly improve their lives, while yielding positive economic results. By bridging the skills gap and fostering employability, the N-SKILLS programme contributes to the country's socio-economic development.

*The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria has announced plans to disburse a total sum of N1bn in 2025.*

SMEDAN said the amount would be distributed equally to Micro, Small and Medium businesses across the country, fostering economic growth and support for businesses of all scales.

This initiative, as outlined in the agency’s 2025 budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly, is a bold step in addressing the funding gaps and challenges faced by the sector, which plays a critical role in Nigeria’s economy.

According to SMEDAN, the grant will target businesses that demonstrate growth potential, possess sustainable business models, and have the capacity to create jobs and contribute to economic development.

An official at the agency, who confirmed the plan, said the initiative still required legislative approval and adequate funding from the office of the accountant general.
