There is something interesting that happens when you learn something new.
It changes what you notice.
It changes the problems you pay attention to. It changes what you feel responsible for.
Most people know me as a WordPress website developer (amidst other things I can do). I have built websites for businesses in Nigeria, the UK, the US, and a few other places. That has been my world for a while.
But recently I enrolled in the Data Entry Academy by Accounting Hub, and the experience has opened my eyes to something deeper.
I started seeing how many small businesses and schools struggle with basic processes.
Things that should be simple like record keeping, inventory, payments, reconciliation, and reporting often look like chaos behind the scenes.
And the more I learned, the more I noticed it everywhere.
Last week Wednesday, I visited the director of a well known 21st Century faith-based school here in Ibadan.
With my new understanding of systems and processes, I asked him one simple question.
“How do you manage your finances?”
His response surprised me.
For a school that relies heavily on technology and has grown over the years, managing their finances has been a major challenge.
They had tried different systems, paid for solutions, and even had someone create a template for them, but nothing gave them peace of mind. The person who created their current template is too busy to even update it for them.
When I met their accountant, it was the same story. A lot of stress, a lot of errors, and no reliable structure. He told me that if I could help them create something that truly worked, it would be a huge relief.
That conversation changed everything.
I went home and started building a framework for their school. At first I was only thinking about them.
No automation,
No scaling,
Nothing complex.
Just a clean system that solves their real problems.
By Friday, I had a demo ready.
When I presented it to the director, he was impressed.
And then he did something I didn’t expect.
He asked me to replicate the same system for another business he runs, a Hajj and Umrah travel company that handles installment payments for Hajj and Umrah packages.
That was when the real thinking began.
How do I build this in a way that is scalable?
How do I avoid recreating everything from scratch for every new school or business?
How do I make this something any school can use with ease?
I thought it would be simple.
It has not been simple at all.
But it has been exciting.
From last week Wednesday till today, I have had several aha moments.
Moments where I pause and tell myself, “So I am really building this.”
And I am still building it.
But I have seen enough already to know that what I am creating will ease a major fear that many schools have.
Managing finances, tracking fees, understanding their real financial position, and getting real time updates should not be stressful. It should not feel like a puzzle.
This journey started accidentally, but it is becoming something bigger.
And very soon, I will share more.
If you're a school owner, or someone who knows a school owner, this is a system that will give you a lot of peace of mind...
So be on the lookout.
