DATA ANALYTICS BOOTCAMP 6.0: Synopsis of Day 1 of 90
Tonight we kickstart our 3 Months Data Analytics Bootcamp 6.0 at 9:00pm GMT+ sharp.
I myself chaired the session, and will be with the participants insha Allah for the entire 90 Days.
We have the introductory part, where I discussed about Lectures, Weekly Mini Projects, Individual Field Survey, Duration of the Bootcamp, Certification and Supervisors.
Lectures will hold everyday and will start by 9:00pm, where there will be 1p weekly mini project (Assignment) that will be given every 7th day of the week, which is hands on real project that will be given to all participants which is worth capturing in CV and develop a strong portfolio with.
There will also be a mandatory Individual Field Survey, that all Interns (participants) of the Bootcamp will undergo, where topics will be shared with them, and they are to use their knowledge to develop the survey tools and questionnaire for their field exercise.
I discussed about the duration of the Boocamp which is Complete 3 Months (92 days to be precise), and later talk about how Certificates can be earned during the Bootcamp.
Certificates will only be issued to those who accumulate total marks of 80% from 10 Mini Project (50) and from Final Capstone Project (50), only those who got 80% out the total 100 marks are qualified for Certificates.
We introduce supervisors in this Bootcamp for the first time, all Interns will be assign Supervisors, that will act as their line managers, who will support, guide and mentor them throughout the Bootcamp.
In today's sesssion also we discussed about Data Analytics Journey, where the journey stared and where it ends, and then I explain some of the terms every Data Analyst/Scientist need to udnerstand.
What Data Science is all about, it relationship with Data Analytics, meaning of Data Analysis and who are Data Scientist and Data Analyst.
I later discussed about 4 questions Data Analytics profession answered using Data for better decision making, these four questions are:
- What happened using Descriptive Analysis
- Why did it happened? Using Diagnostic Analysis
- What will happen? Using Predictive Analysis
- What can be done ? Using Prescriptive Analysis
We discussed about reasons behind choosing a Data Analytics career, which has to do with the high demand of the profession across the globe, versatility across all sectors and indsutries, easy to start, high opportunities with good pay.
I then talked about the sifferent Data Analytical tools there is in the world, which are so many, but the ones we will treated in this bootcamp are, Excel, SQL, SPSS, PowerBI, CommCare, ODK/KoboCollect, Google Form, QGIS, PowerPoint.
Lastly I mentioned some of the best advice I have for the participants for them to be able to reap the benefits of this Bootcamp, and be able to follow it from the beginning till the end.
We have quesitons and answers, conclusion, and we call it a day.
