🌿 A LITTLE STORY ABOUT OSHIE AND UDI 🌿
Long ago, before modern roads, vehicles and cities became common, the people of Oshie and Udi lived closely connected to their land, traditions and one another.
Oshie was known as one of the communities within the wider Udi area, where families depended largely on farming, hunting, trading and the strength of communal living. The people valued hard work, respect for elders, family and the traditions handed down from their ancestors.
Udi, meanwhile, became an important area in the history of the region. Its people were known for their courage, farming activities and strong community organisation. Villages and families maintained their own customs while also sharing cultural ties with neighbouring communities.
One important thing about the history of Oshie and Udi is that it reminds us that our communities were built not only by individuals, but by generations working together. Our ancestors protected their families, cultivated the land and preserved stories, names and traditions for those who would come after them.
Today, as development continues, it is important for the younger generation to learn these stories—because a people who forget their history may eventually lose part of their identity.
