With a mandate to train 2000 civil servants, we are proud to have exceeded that number by 400. On the 16th of September we graduated 2400 civil servants who were involved in the Civil Service Technology Empowerment for Capacity and High Performance (CIVTECH); a one month digital literacy training programme driven by the Office of the Head of Service, Cross River State in Partnership with the Cross River State ICT HUB.
The event also marked Cross River Techfest 2026.

Day 2 was for the tech community, and they showed up.
Keynotes from Ubio Obo (Remostarts), Joseph Etim (Young People Connect), Wofia Eyong (Data Analyst), Chisom Rutherford (AI Specialist), and KufreAbasi (Futybil Tech Community).

A fireside chat with Duke Peter, Patrick Ndifon (Hack51), and Oyo Effiom (Guru Hub) that got real about what it takes to build a tech community here in Calabar.

And a hackathon that put every idea from the stage into the hands of the people who can actually build it.
This is Cross River TechFest 2026. From training people to changing outcomes.

Thank you to every partner who made this weekend possible.

Today marked the conclusion of the State-Level Policy Roundtable on “Accelerating Inclusive Economic Opportunities through the BPO Sector” in Cross River State, organised by TTS Nigeria Program, funded by the Mastercard Foundation, in partnership with Tech4Dev.

The second day focused on the co-drafting of a framework designed to strengthen and accelerate the growth of the BPO sector in Cross River State.

It was encouraging to see key stakeholders bring forward practical ideas, valuable contributions and implementable strategies that can help create more opportunities, strengthen the sector and position Cross River State as a competitive BPO destination.

A big thank you to TTS Nigeria Program, Mastercard Foundation, Tech4Dev, Univelcity, Semicolon and Policy Innovation Centre (PIC) for bringing this important policy dialogue to Cross River State and making the state the first stop in a conversation that has the potential to drive BPO growth across Nigeria.

The dialogue may be over, but the work towards implementation begins.

Today, our delegates participated in the State-Level Policy Roundtable on “Accelerating Inclusive Economic Opportunities through the BPO Sector" organised by TTS Nigeria Program in partnership with Mastercard Foundation and Tech4Dev.

The session brought together key stakeholders in the State to examine the current realities of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector in Cross River State, while exploring practical ways to unlock more inclusive economic opportunities through the industry.

A major highlight was the Plenary Session on Reflections and Stakeholders’ Perspectives, which focused on the current constraints, opportunities and growth prospects within Cross River State’s BPO ecosystem.

During the breakout sessions, participants worked collaboratively on:

• Identifying interventions around Incentives, Standards, and Accountability Mechanisms
• Time Segmentation of proposed interventions
• Priority Mapping to determine key areas requiring immediate attention
• Identifying the Stakeholders needed to drive implementation

The conversations were insightful, practical and forward-looking, highlighting the importance of collaboration between government, private sector players, technology stakeholders and other key actors in building a stronger BPO ecosystem in the State and Nigeria as well.

As we look ahead to Day 2, we remain committed to contributing to conversations that can create more opportunities, strengthen digital employment and position Cross River State for greater participation in the global BPO economy.

Day 1 done. More conversations, ideas and action ahead.

Eight weeks.

Countless lessons.

Endless possibilities.

What began as curiosity quickly became a journey of discovery, creativity, and innovation.

Over the past eight weeks, our NEXTGEN students explored the world of technology through Artificial Intelligence & Automation, Cybersecurity, Product & Web Design, Graphics Design, and Computer Appreciation. They learned new concepts, tackled challenges, developed new skills, and most importantly, discovered that technology is not just something they use, it's something they can create.

From developing games and e-commerce platforms to designing digital marketplaces and a personal styling website that recommends outfits based on individual preferences, these young minds transformed ideas into reality.

But beyond the projects and presentations, they gained something even more valuable: confidence. The confidence to think critically, solve problems, collaborate with others, and bring their ideas to life.

At their graduation and project showcase, they proudly shared what they had built with family, friends, and guests, a testament to their hard work, growth, and determination throughout the programme.

Today, we celebrate not just the skills they have acquired, but the innovators, creators, and future leaders they are becoming.

The future is in good hands.
