🚨 JAMB CAPS: ADMISSION TERMS & THEIR MEANINGS

If you’ve been checking your JAMB CAPS and keep seeing words like β€œNot Admitted,” β€œAdmission in Progress,” or β€œTransfer Approval,” it can be confusing. To make things clearer, here’s what each of those terms actually means:

πŸ”Ή 1. Not Admitted:
If your CAPS shows β€œNOT ADMITTED,” it means you’ve not been offered admission yet. This does not always mean rejection, admissions are released in batches, and sometimes your school may not have uploaded your details. Keep checking regularly, especially if your school has started giving admissions.

πŸ”Ή 2. Admission in Progress:
When you see β€œADMISSION IN PROGRESS,” it means your school has already recommended you for admission and JAMB is currently processing or validating it. At this stage, you’re close to admission, and if everything goes smoothly, your status will soon change to β€œCONGRATULATIONS….”

πŸ”Ή 3. Admitted / Admission Offered:
Once you see β€œCONGRATULATIONS…”it means you’ve officially been given admission on CAPS. From here, you need to take action , either accept the admission to secure it or reject it if you prefer to wait for another school

πŸ”Ή 4. Transfer Approval:
If β€œTRANSFER APPROVAL” appears, it means your school wants to change you from your original course to a different one. You can either accept the new course or reject it. However, rejecting may reduce your chances of admission in that school.

πŸ”Ή 5. Accept Admission:
This is the option to use when you’re satisfied with the admission given. Accepting confirms it officially with JAMB. Note that acceptance requires fingerprint verification at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. Alternatively, you can accept through SMS by sending to 55019 or 66019 with the phone number used for your JAMB registration.

πŸ”Ή 6. Reject Admission:
If you don’t want the admission offered, you can reject it. Like acceptance, this also requires fingerprint verification at a CBT centre. You can also reject admission by sending an SMS to 55019 or 66019 from your JAMB registration phone number.

πŸ”Ή 7. Marketplace (JAMB Market Place Offer):
Sometimes, JAMB suggests other schools or courses for you through the Marketplace. You can choose to accept the alternative offer or reject it, depending on your preference.

The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has admitted errors in the results released early in the week with respect to this year’s Senior Secondary School Examination, SSCE, saying 1,239,884 candidates now have credit passes in five subjects or more, including English Language and Mathematics.

The new figure represents 62.9% of the 1,969,313 candidates who sat for the examination.

Also, the new figure is much better than the initial figure of 754,545, or 38.32% of the number of candidates said to have credit passes in five or more subjects, including English and mathematics, in previously announced results.

Briefing the press in Lagos on Friday evening, the Head of the National Office of WAEC, Dr Amos Dangut, admitted some lapses on the part of the Council, especially regarding the serialised questions in objective papers of some subjects.

The Council, being an accountable, transparent and credible organisation, further investigated all the serialised papers (Mathematics, English Language, Biology and Economics Objective Papers) and discovered that a serialised code file was wrongly used in the printing of English Language Objective Tests (Paper 3), which resulted in them being scored with the wrong keys. Nevertheless, the schools that sat WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025, using the computer-based mode were not affected by this error.
