Shadows of sorrow
Episode 11: A Familiar Face

Emmanuel's eyes narrowed. "What is he doing here?" he muttered.
The officer started walking towards us, a scowl on his face. "What are you two doing here?" he growled.
I stood my ground, trying to look confident. "We're just gathering evidence to prove my mother's innocence," I said.
The officer snorted. "You think you can prove she didn't steal? I don't think so."
Emmanuel stepped forward, his eyes flashing with anger. "We have witnesses who will testify that she didn't steal," he said.
The officer raised an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? Who?"
I smiled, feeling a sense of triumph. "We have a witness who saw one of the vendors arguing with my mother," I said.
The officer's expression changed, and for a moment, I thought I saw a flicker of uncertainty...
