Progressive Governors Pass Vote of Confidence on President Tinubu, Back Renewed Hope Agenda
The Progressive Governorsโ Forum (PGF) has passed a firm vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging full support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and backing his re-election bid in 2027. The declaration followed a crucial meeting of the Forum and APC stakeholders held in Lagos and hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Announcing the outcome, Chairman of the PGF and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, said the decision reflected the Forumโs appreciation of the Presidentโs leadership and ongoing reforms across key sectors. Twelve governors attended the meeting, including Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, alongside their counterparts from Kebbi, Edo, Ekiti, Ondo, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Delta, Enugu, Kaduna and Katsina.
In the communiquรฉ issued after the meeting, the Forum reviewed political, economic and security developments nationwide. The governors reaffirmed that all reforms initiated by the administration must ultimately improve the lives of Nigerians and expand opportunities for citizens across rural and urban communities. They commended President Tinubu for stabilising the economy, strengthening national security and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.
The Forum also recognised the current cost-of-living pressures and applauded Nigerians for their resilience. Governors pledged to scale up interventions in food production, youth employment, social protection and support for small and medium enterprises, while aligning state policies with federal reforms to ensure citizens in all communities benefit.
On security, the PGF acknowledged improved coordination among security agencies and resolved to strengthen local security architecture, community-based initiatives, intelligence gathering and support for victims. They urged national leaders to promote unity, moderation and inter-ethnic understanding while isolating criminality and hate speech.
