Eagletech Foundation Promotes Inclusion at Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Workshop in Abuja
Abuja, Nigeria - Thursday, 26 February 2026

Eagletech Foundation proudly provided professional sign language interpretation services at the Capacity Strengthening and Dialogue Workshop for Judicial Officers on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) held at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

The high-level workshop brought together judicial officers and key stakeholders to deepen understanding and strengthen institutional responses to issues surrounding women’s rights, peacebuilding, conflict prevention, and gender justice within the framework of the Women, Peace and Security agenda.

As an organization committed to inclusion and equal access, Eagletech Foundation ensured that participants who are deaf or hard of hearing were fully engaged throughout the sessions. Our interpretation services reinforced the principle that access to justice and participation must be inclusive and leave no one behind.

By supporting inclusive dialogue in critical national conversations such as Women, Peace and Security, Eagletech Foundation continues to promote accessibility, equity, and meaningful participation for persons with disabilities in governance and public discourse.

We remain committed to advancing inclusion across sectors from justice and governance to technology and community development.

Promoting Inclusive Dialogue: Deaf Community Actively Participates at SPRiNG Annual Learning and Adaptation Event, Abuja
The SPRiNG Annual Learning and Adaptation Event, held on 27–28 January at Abuja Continental Hotel, brought together key stakeholders, development partners, civil society organizations, and community representatives to reflect, learn, and adapt strategies aimed at shaping a more inclusive and resilient Nigeria.
A major highlight of this year’s event was the intentional inclusion of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, ensuring that persons with disabilities were not only present but actively engaged in national conversations that affect their lives and communities.
To achieve this, professional Sign Language Interpretation services were provided by Eagletech Foundation, with Mr. Emmanuel Olusegun Adetunji, a Certified Sign Language Interpreter, facilitating real-time communication between Deaf participants and hearing attendees throughout plenary sessions, panel discussions, group workshops, and feedback forums.
This inclusive communication bridge enabled Deaf participants to:
1. Fully understand presentations and policy discussions
2. Contribute their perspectives during interactive sessions
3. Share lived experiences and recommendations on development priorities
4. Participate meaningfully in shaping solutions for national growth
According to Mr. Adetunji,
_“True development must be inclusive. When the Deaf community is given access to information and a platform to express their views, the quality of dialogue and solutions improves significantly.”_
The presence and participation of the Deaf community reinforced SPRiNG’s commitment to equity, accessibility, and inclusive development, aligning with global best practices and the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
The successful integration of accessibility services at the event demonstrates that inclusion is not an afterthought but a necessary component of effective learning, adaptation, and policy-driven engagement.
As Nigeria continues to navigate complex social and economic challenges, platforms like the SPRiNG

For the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community, access to political discourse ensures:
equal participation in national conversations,
informed civic engagement, and
recognition as active stakeholders in Nigeria’s democracy.
Inclusion is not merely symbolic it is fundamental to democratic legitimacy.
🤝 Conclusion: Democracy Must Speak Every Language
From North to South, the National Forum of Former Legislators continues to demonstrate that unity is achievable and that leadership is sustained through dialogue, trust, and continuity.
As Nigeria advances under a new era of reform, one truth remains clear:
democracy thrives not only when leaders agree, but when citizens can hear and see the message in ways accessible to them.
“We will rise together or fall together.” Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
From legislative halls of the past to policy platforms of today, the mission continues:
to build a united, prosperous, peaceful, and inclusive Nigeria where no community is left unheard.

Accessibility Service: Professional Sign Language Interpretation for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Participants
The national conversation on unity and democratic continuity took a significant step forward on Saturday, 24th January 2026, as the National Forum of Former Legislators convened at the NAF Conference Center, Kado, Abuja, with deliberate provisions made to ensure that Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing citizens were fully included through professional Sign Language interpretation services.
As a Certified Sign Language Interpreter, I had the privilege of providing real-time interpretation, enabling members of the Deaf community to actively follow discussions, speeches, and policy positions shared by national leaders. This inclusion reflects a growing recognition that democracy must be accessible to all citizens, regardless of hearing ability.
🇳🇬 Leadership Dialogue with Inclusive Participation
In a nation rich with diversity and democratic promise, the echoes of leadership past are finding renewed relevance today. From the hallowed chambers of Nigeria’s National Assembly has emerged a collective of elder statesmen former legislators united by a mission to strengthen democracy, deepen dialogue, and sustain national unity.
The Forum comprises men and women who once shaped the laws of the land, patriots who served in both state and national assemblies. Their purpose is to apply the wisdom of experience to guide the course of Nigeria’s democracy through dialogue, peacebuilding, and national consensus.
At the Abuja dialogue, the Northern Caucus of the Forum focused on national security, peace, and leadership rotation. Their communiqué affirmed commitment to equity and balance in governance, stating:
“We align to the unifying foundation of our country which relates to the rotation of power between the North and South. We advocate that the South be allowed to complete their tenure.”

Eagletech Foundation proposes an 8-month Soft Tech Skills Empowerment Programme designed to empower Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) with digital competencies that enable them to earn income remotely, become economically independent, and reduce unemployment within Nigeria’s disability community.

The programme directly aligns with Eagletech Foundation’s aims and objectives:

3. To influence and impact positively people with disabilities and the disadvantaged.
4. To empower individuals with special needs, underprivileged, and vulnerable members of society through tailored training programs.

Nigeria currently has over 27 million persons with disabilities, according to the World Bank and local disability organizations, with unemployment among PWDs estimated at 55–70%, significantly higher than the national average. This programme seeks to close the digital divide by equipping PWDs with in-demand soft tech skills

By the end of 8 months, at least 60% of participants are expected to secure freelance opportunities, internships, or small business engagements, contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth and reducing pressure on the traditional labour market.
