The Outcome of Our Faith in Christ

What we must also know as believers is that we have become redeemed people.
This means we now belong to God. Now, we know that anything a person buys with their own money belongs to them forever. What it means that God has redeemed us by the blood of Jesus is that we have become God’s possession; we no longer belong to Satan.

COLOSSIANS 1:13
Who has delivered us from the power of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.[13]

Anyone who does not have authority over us cannot exercise dominion over our lives. Therefore, Satan’s power has ceased forever in our lives. This is what Satan does not want us to know. It is this lack of knowledge that makes many believers go about seeking deliverance, because they do not know that through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, they have been set free from all dominion of Satan and his evil spirits.

Hear what the Bible says about the state of freedom we have in Christ.

EPHESIANS 2:2-3
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.[2][3]

The portion we are referring to here speaks about the work of Satan and his host in the lives of unbelievers. It calls Satan the ruler over the lives of the children of disobedience. Disobedience refers to those who have not yet believed in the gospel of Christ. Satan reigns over their hearts and he is the ruler over their lives. But in this passage, the part of the sentence we want to draw attention to is that it says “wherein in time past ye walked.” This means that Satan’s kingdom or dominion was once in the life of anyone who has now believed. Faith in Christ is freedom.

JOHN 8:36
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.[36]

Freedom that still needs another deliverance after a person has believed is not true freedom. Jesus gave us true freedom. This is why there is nowhere in the Bible where, after a person has believed, it says they will still need another form of deliverance.

All the authority Jesus received after His resurrection, He received it for our sake. His name, His command, His power is available for us to use as believers.

PHILIPPIANS 2:10-11
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.[10][11]

The Use of Medicine and Healing

And we have seen some of God's people who have the belief that if they are trusting God for healing, it does not show faith to use medicine for recovery. There is no truth in this. It is mere deception. Using medicine for healing does not conflict with our faith at all, nor does it mean that our faith rests in the medicine itself, rather than in the power of God.

Let us know that God created all things, and this same God will not be angry with us if we use what He created in a way that does not go against His will. For example, the things used to make alcohol that people get drunk on are things God created, but they are being used in a way that opposes God's command and order. Therefore, it is not what we use for healing that matters, but the way we use it.

We see many times the Bible speaks about the relationship between physical things we can see or touch and healing.

Luke 10:34
He went to him, bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.

1 Timothy 5:23
Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

Ezekiel 47:12
Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear fruit, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.
