AI-powered automated inventory tracking systems are gaining popularity in helping retailers improve inventory tracking. Ever since Amazon opened its first store using its 'Just Walk Out' cashier less technology in 2018, retailers have been experimenting using AI to analyze images or video from aisle-roving robots or strategically mounted cameras. These systems notify store workers when product levels on shelves are low.

Enter the Big Box stores, which was like a supercharged mom-and-pop store.

Large-scale stores, offering tremendous variety of brands at highly-discounted prices became the trend in the 1970s and beyond. In the US, the most famous such brands are Walmart and Target. Closer to home, brands like Mydin, Lotus' and Giant replicated this model to much success. In the modern context, big box stores offer better economies of scale, and is a time-saving proposition for busy consumers.
