In addition to the majesty and mystery of our relationship with these beautiful living beings, there is a very crude reality that has been latent for many years.

The mining industry is very voracious, and in its insatiable search for gold they have devastated entire ecosystems and among a great diversity of flora and fauna, peyotes have been seriously affected.

We find it very necessary and urgent to continue talking about these issues through creativity. May art and design go beyond the contemplation of galleries, fairs, museums and virtual platforms like this social network.

Talking about these issues with other people and spreading the word will help reach more places with the intention of continuing to draw attention to the situation of different species that are endangered in different parts of the world.

Many thanks to la_cápsula for all the organization of the exhibition and for giving space to three pieces that make up the Peyotes family. And, of course, to all the people from Zürich who have visited the exhibition.

Spirituality and its ancestral relationship to the earth (the soil) is the starting point of this exhibition, which investigates sacred plants and animals for different indigenous cultures, healing rituals, psychedelic research as well as the possible spiritual dimension of human’s need to connect with nature in contemporary capitalist societies.

With works by: Antonio Pichillá, Benvenuto Chavajay, Extinto x Geoide, Felipe Castelblanco, Frédéric Bron & Judith Weidmann and Duo Mazenett Quiroga. .mx .bronsky

El ombligo del mundo is the third and last exhibition of the series “Earth is the heaviest element” which addresses the need to de-construct and re-construct our relationship to the earth, other humans and non-human entities. The exhibitions bring together the knowledge and practices of Latin American and Swiss artists and scientists, in order to suggest alternative ways of co-existing. Curated by Adriana Domínguez @ yerbita.
