There was a point in my career where I realized I was designing for the wrong audience.
I was trying to impress other designers.
Clean mockups. Trendy styles. Designs that looked good online and earned silent approval from people who were not paying me.
The work looked nice, but something was off.
The main design goals were often an afterthought.
That was the day I stopped.
I shifted my focus from what designers would admire to what actually works in the real world.
Designs that communicate clearly.
Designs that solve business problems, not just visual ones.
I started thinking beyond the screen.
How will this look when printed
How will it be used
What problem is it supposed to solve
The change was immediate.
Clients understood my decisions better.
Revisions reduced.
Trust increased.
I learned that designers notice trends.
Businesses notice results.
When you stop designing to impress your peers and start designing to serve a purpose, your work matures.
It becomes useful.
It becomes valuable.
And value is what keeps clients coming back.
