At the crack of the dawn, our neighbourhood suddenly burst into noise. Shouts echoed between the houses as a group of people dragged out a man they claimed was a thief. Within moments, the crowd surrounded him, anger rising like a storm. I watched from a short distance, unsure whether to step closer or stay back.
Beside me stood my son, Zayn, curious, and far kinder than the chaos in front of us. His eyes widened as he watched the men raise their hands against the thief.
“Dad,” he tugged my short gently, his voice trembling but firm, “call the police.”
In that instant, I felt the weight of his words. While the adults around us acted out of anger, my son chose justice. Not violence, not vengeance just the right thing.
I pulled out my phone, hearing Zayn’s worried breathing beside me, and dialed. As the ring tone sounded, I glanced at him and realized something quietly powerful.
sometimes children remind us of the values we’re supposed to teach them.
In the middle of a noisy neighbourhood, it was my son’s small voice that spoke the loudest.
