What is Visual Hierarchy? (And Why Bad Hierarchy Kills Your Flyer)
Visual hierarchy is the way a design guides the viewer's eyes from the most important information to the least important. If people don't know where to look first, your message gets lost, and even a beautiful flyer can fail to get results.
Take this loan flyer as an example:
✅ The bold "NEED MONEY FAST?" headline grabs attention first.
✅ The supporting text immediately explains the offer.
✅ The interest rates are placed in a clear section for easy reading.
✅ The image helps create an emotional connection and reinforces the message.
✅ The contact numbers are positioned at the bottom for the final action step.
This creates a natural flow: Attention → Information → Trust → Action.
A common graphic design mistake is making everything the same size, color, and importance. When everything shouts for attention, nothing gets attention.
Good visual hierarchy, typography, color contrast, and layout design help turn a simple flyer into a marketing tool that communicates clearly and converts better.
Remember: People don't read flyers first—they scan them. Design for the eyes before you design for the mind.
