1. Tools

These are the “weapons” data analysts and scientists use daily such as:

A. Python

its a programming language used in data analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence. it's used mostly when working with larger dataset

B. Excel / Google Sheets

for quick analysis & charts, commonly used in smaller dataset

C. R Language
for statistics and visualization

D. SQL (structured quarry language)

to handle and query databases

2. Skills required to work with data

A great data analyst blends tech + logic + storytelling

A. Mathematics & Statistics

to understand patterns and make predictions

B. Programming – Python, R, or SQL

for data visualization that turning data into stories

C. Critical thinking

asking the right questions when working with particular data

D. Communication

explaining data clearly to others

Data

Let’s talk about data, the heart of every decision!

Data is a collection of facts or information that can be recorded and analyzed.

It can be numbers, words, images, sounds, or measurements basically, anything that can be observed and stored for reference.

Simple example:

age e.g 22 years
name e.g Adam
grade e.g A+
phone brand e.g Tecno

Each of these is a piece of data

Data helps organizations, businesses, and even you make smarter decisions every day

Types of Data

it comes in two main types:

1. Qualitative Data (Descriptive Data)

This type of data describes qualities or characteristics.

Examples:

Color of a car e.g Red, Blue, White
Gender e.g Male, Female
Type of food e.g Spaghetti , Rice, Nsima

mostly It answers “What kind?”

2. Quantitative Data (Numerical Data)

This one deals with numbers or things you can count or measure.

Examples:

Age e.g 20 years
Salary e.g K450,000
Height e.g 170 cm
