VIRPILS - We’re ready to show you the VPC ATLAS FFB Base!
This is our highly anticipated entrance to the force feedback flightstick segment - with years of intense research and development, we’re finally ready to bring you force feedback!
The VPC ATLAS diverts from the “standard” approaches to FFB joysticks, this isn’t gear, belt or direct driven in the traditional senses. Our R&D department has researched these options in great depth, and noted the drawbacks that often come with these designs. So our designers came up with a new approach…
The ATLAS will give you a powerful, smooth, and accurate FFB control with a number of design benefits to take your flights to new heights!
Powered by a smooth-drive cord axis system, built on our custom engineered motors - this design provides the best of all worlds. No backlash, no cogging, and no deadzones with equal and linear forces across the axes with incredible precision.
The forces are transmitted through to the axis gimbal which takes from decades of experience designing high precision flightstick mechanisms - you know you’ll always be in full control.
We’ll be taking a deep dive into what makes the VPC ATLAS special over our next announcements as there is simply so much for us to talk about. But first, let’s talk about what everyone has been waiting for - the main specifications, pricing and release date!
The VPC ATLAS will provide an output power of 25nm - but this isn’t the full story as the rest of the design dictates how that force will translate to forces felt on the flightstick. We feel that the community is not being provided enough information to make accurate assessments on FFB flightstick performance so we want to change that!
When using a grip such as the VPC FLNKR - the VPC ATLAS will transfer 12kg of force through to the pilot. But just as importantly, the VPC ATLAS can output this maximum force continuously for minutes meaning even the most extended maneuvers and dogfights can be enjoyed without any fluctuations in force.
Our R&D Department has also planned for those who want something more extreme! The VPC ATLAS Pro with 45nm of output power! When combined with the VPC FLNKR Grip, the VPC ATLAS Pro will output over a massive 22kg of force through to the flightstick!
Of course, deciding between two bases can be difficult - so our R&D team will be releasing an ATLAS Upgrade Kit that will take your ATLAS and change it into the ATLAS Pro when your skills, and budget, allows!
Software is hugely important for FFB to perform the best it can. So we are pleased to confirm that we have the FFBeast Team onboard with VIRPIL Controls, using their huge experience with powerful and immersive FFB to develop a new software algorithm built from the ground up to unleash the true potential of the VPC ATLAS design!
