Henry Olcott Maha Vidyalaya , is situated in colombo District in Western Province.The founder of this school was late minister weerasinghe Malimarachchi. Originally the school premises was a marshy land, and was prepared in a suitable way,and the school was established on 3rd February 1982. At the begining, there were 37 students and the staff was consisted of 3 members - Mr. Hapugastenne - the P

rincipal and Mr. M.S Ramanayake , and Mrs. R.G Ratnawali, two assistant teachers. The first principal Mr. Hapusgastenne - who was a dedicated and talented person, sacrificed his whole life to build up the school, by introducing new programmes and schemes. With his untiring efforts ,the school earned a good reputation and became the most popular and leading school in Kolonnawa area .He was retired in 1998 and his successor Mr..P.H Karunasena, also followed the former path and maintained the high standard and added new programmes,In 2002, English medium classes were introduced,In 2005, an important subject - Information Technology was introduced and new well - equipped IT laboratory was established accordingly. Then our school was selected as a 'Isuru School' and granted a large sum of money for the development of the school. The present principal - a captain in Army volunteer Force,he too is a dedicated person, utilizes his experiences to uplift the standard of the school. The school was started with a one building of 1600 square feet, now it is consisted with 10 buildings, The examination results and education process are in high standard.The recent victory was gained in Music section, by wining the 1st places in All island Music competition in solo Orchestra contests.Besides many places have been won in the field of sports. The scout movement has been functioning for 20 years - 36th colombo scout group functioning successfully at present and created 5 president scouts so far. A powerful and obliged prefect guild performs effectively to maintain the high standard of decipline and high esteem of the students. The school development society also a great strength and contribute much for the betterment of the school.from 2009,new era was begun with selecting our school as a 'Isuru School' providing new facilities and enhancing the quality of the school.
