Over the past few months, undergraduates from different universities have come through Rootcode HQ, joining sessions run by our engineers, designers, and product teams.

Students gain practical insight into building technology at scale through honest conversations and by seeing real-world projects up close.

We recently kicked off our Industry Reconnaissance and Engagement programme with the University of Moratuwa.

Session 01 brought our teams together with students to talk through how the industry actually works, the problems worth solving, and the skills that matter once you are inside it.

Our leadership team sat down for a leadership session at Rootcode with Mats Hultin, our Board Director, who led the conversation. With over 20 years of senior leadership experience, including serving as CIO at Saab and Ericsson, Mats has seen leadership tested in environments where the stakes are high and the margin for error is small. He shared what those years taught him about leading when there is no room for error, and the mindset that environment demands of the person in charge.

Mangala Perera, our Chief Operating Officer, followed with his own perspective on building and leading teams, and the rest of the team joined in with questions and experiences of their own. Two things that stayed with us: the difference between fixing a problem and being accountable for it, and the value of situational leadership.

A room full of people who lead, learning how to do it better.
