Purposeful Technology.
ITEC and E3empower Africa teams talked with girls at Arusha girls high school yesterday, we had a very good time talking about how they can be creatives in finding technological solutions that will solve many of their community problems of which some may become legit businesses.
New technology represents a huge opportunity for them to become experts and be able to use that knowledge to do some useful things, technologies like AI and Machine learning, Robotics, CNC machining, Advanced agriculture, etc.

It is nice seeing how effectively the solar mini-grid is, on reducing shortage of electricity to off-grid villages i.e Mkalama and Ngurdoto village.
Upgrading is being done to make sure the systems stay effectively and reliable at all times by applying the field of IoT systems, Smart Grid i.e Smart Electricity metering, and Mobile payments.
The upgraded communication systems will reduce operating costs and improve smart meter data measurement, collection, and management.
It has been a nice moment together with volunteers from Arusha Technical College (ATC) who worked hand to hand with the iTEC team and local technician during the entire period of system upgrades, we are all learned a lot from one another.

During the press conference with District Commissioner of Arumeru District Jerry Muro.
He visited our manufacturing place yesterday and he was very happy to see what we have been doing there and how big the project has impacted the health service at Arumeru District Hospital and other small health center near by during this difficult time with the Covid19 pandemic.

The mask we produce at the factor goes directly to be used by health worker within and outside the District Hospital of Arumeru.
The hospital has a number of small branches or health centers in different villages around Arusha so as to distribute health service near to the people who lives in distant places from town and we also provide the masks to them.

We just very happy to provide this help to Arumeru District Hospital so as health worker such doctors and nurses can keep staying safe and keep helping our community as much as they can.

All the thanks goes to South Korean Government for funding the project and proving all the machine and equipment that we need to get get the job done also thank to District Hospital for their help during all this time.

In this difficult time of pandemic disease, villagers have found a way to help their community by setup a small workshop for making face mask that uses the electric sewing machine provided by iTEC and they are using electricity provided by iTEC-Ngurdoto Solar Min-grid.

It is such a huge initiative for their community considering the price of mask is very high for a normal village to be able to afford 3 mask a day, now they will be making their own masks.
