Google and Blackstone are forming a new U.S.-based AI cloud company backed by an initial $5 billion equity commitment from Blackstone.

The venture will offer data center capacity, networking, operations, and Google Cloud’s Tensor Processing Units as a compute-as-a-service platform, giving customers another way to access Google’s AI chips outside Google Cloud.

The company aims to bring 500 megawatts of capacity online in 2027 and scale further over time. Google veteran Benjamin Treynor Sloss will serve as CEO.
